Quiet Time With Jesus – Storms and Survival

Friday, 5 July 2019

‘Love Singapore’ 40-day 2019 prayer guide (5 Jul):

Storms are a fact of life. It’s not the size of your storm but the state of your faith that matters. Survival is not to the fittest but to the faithful.

WE NEED JESUS (emphasis mine).

Take an honest look at the state of your faith. Is it in Christ alone, the One who commands wind and sea? The Bible tells us that Peter has faith in Jesus when he (Peter) requests Jesus to command him (Peter) to go to Him (Jesus) on the water. Upon hearing the voice of Jesus, Peter stepped out of the boat onto the water and walked – that is FAITH. Peter knows the voice – Jesus’ voice.

Neil Armstrong’s walk on the moon was made possible by science. Peter’s walk on water was made possible by FAITH alone in the One who says: Come.

Peter walked by faith and not by sight. In this way, he became a paradigm of FAITH for us.

Peter’s faith in Jesus is a result of walking – living with, listening to, learning from Jesus (for 3 years). My faith in Jesus is a result of ‘walking with’ Jesus through the Bible (the Word of God), listening to His voice, learning from and responding to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Over a period of approximately 18 years, I have learned to recognize His presence.

Whoever comes to God must believe that He is and that He rewards those who diligently SEEK Him (Hebrews 11:6).

My Prayer

Dear Father God

The key to knowing You is to SEEK You. You have promised that we will FIND You when we SEEK You with ALL OUR HEART (Jeremiah 29:13).

Psalm 19:7-11

The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul.

The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart.

The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever.

The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.

They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.

By them is your servant warned;

In keeping them there is great reward.

Father God, help us to build a strong culture of FAITH anchored in Your Word. I pray for ministers of the Word to preach and teach in ways that will build our FAITH and whet our appetites, making us HUNGRY for more. Amen!

Father God, help us to become people of FAITH with words of truth to calm nerves, spark courage, inspire hope and TURN ALL EYES ON JESUS. Amen!
