VICTORIOUS LIVING COMES BY LIVING FOR CHRIST

27 February 2021

“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith

— 1 John 5:4

Disbelieve is our main obstacle to salvation.

In fact, to DISBELIEVE is as much an act of faith as BELIEF.

Some people think that they are saved because they grew up in a Christian culture, have gone to church all their lives, or have been baptized. But they did not personally confess Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.

Friends, true salvation comes when we believe and submit to Jesus as Lord and a renewal of heart happens.

When Jesus truly saves us, it makes a difference in how we think, act, speak, and conduct ourselves as the Holy Spirit now guides us for our own good!!

Hallelujah!!!

Prayer

Dear God our Lord, we thank You for sending your son Jesus to die for us on the cross so that we are made right right you and given a second birth and nature in Christ.

Lord, please open our hearts and minds so that we come to seek You and develop our personal relationship with You.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

GIVING WITHOUT EXPECTATIONS BRINGS TRUE INNER JOY

26 February 2021

“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

— 2 Corinthians 9:7

This verse spoke to me back when I recalled holding the lift to let others go out first as a kind gesture and none of them said thank you.

Outwardly, nothing was expressed. Inwardly, I felt like they did not deserve it as they were not thankful.

The Bible teaches that, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." But in that instance, I felt no joy in giving and only felt bitterness in my heart.

Giving comes in many forms be it financially to associations or others in need or our time with a listening ear to a friend or a helping hand.

The motivation of our heart is important as it determines our feelings.

Giving in the right spirit give us true joy and makes us cheerful givers.

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy and grace by sending Jesus who is perfect without sin to be sin for us so that now we are righteous before you in Christ.

Lord, please help us to understand our true nature and to enjoy the freedom that comes from giving without expectation.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

GUARD OUR MOUTHS BY CHANGING OUR HEARTS FIRST

25 February 2021

“Do not take to heart all the things that people say, lest you hear your servant cursing you.

— Ecclesiastes 7:21

Therefore, it’s not just about what we say in front of people but behind them

.

The thing is, there will be times we do what we judge people about. It could be pride, selfishness or anger.

Today's verse show us how easily we are offended by people’s words yet are quick to excuse our own.

Let's realise that we can be all guilty of using words recklessly too and not think of ourselves too highly or others too lowly instead we ask for God to change us first!!

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for loving us even before we knew You.

Lord, please teach us love, peace and self-control so that we learn to also understand that we just as much as others need to change first!!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MINDSET

24 February 2021

“And to be RENEWED in the SPIRIT of your MINDS

— Ephesians 4:23

The "Monkey see Monkey Do" phenomenon is described as copying the behaviour of another without reason or understanding.

Many follow the crowd because they think it's better if the majority is doing it too.

We see this being displayed in:

- Covid situation where everyone mad rushes for groceries.

- Material world where comparisons and envy happens.

- Education world where kids are stressed with tuition and demands.

God wants us not to simply follow the crowd but to make wise decisions for us and our families.

By humbling and submitting to the Holy Spirit, our lives will be transformed by the RENEWAL of our minds attaining "Wisdom" and "Discernment" in our lives.

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for loving us even before we knew You.

Lord, as we get distracted and challenged with today's world of demand and stress, please help us to remain true to Your word and to stand strong in Your faith by always focusing on You!!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

PEACE COMES FROM KNOWING THAT GOD PROVIDES FOR US HOLISTICALLY

23 February 2021

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

— Philippians 4:19

Hearing this verse, I used to keep asking God for things I want. It was until 2 years back that I realised that the verse said, "God will supply every NEED, not WANT".

Truth is, i had spent so much time focusing on what I do not have that I did not give thanks for what I had.

A holistic life considers our entire being from body, mind to soul gaining balance in all aspects.

Jesus came so that we can have life to the full. He dwelled amongst us so that He can understand every situation we are going through not just in good times but also in tough times.

His salvation is holistic as it encompasses all our mental, physical and spiritual needs.

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for loving us.

Lord, please teach us to see You as sovereign and know that You are God.

Deliver us from our pride and selfish desires/thoughts.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

PEACE COMES FROM CASTING OUT BITTERNESS IN OUR LIVES

22 February 2021

“WORK at living in PEACE with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.

— Hebrews 12:14

Bitterness starts out small, burrows deep into our hearts, ultimately controlling our personalities.

It can be as simple as replaying in our minds that people nowadays can be unkind and rude, undeserving of us being nice to them.

Jesus teaches that bitterness can be treated by:

1) BEING FORGIVING: living in peace with everyone (even those who are annoying or against us).

2) BE A BEARER OF GRACE: To live a holy life bearing the fruit of the Spirit.

BITTERNESS ceases when we FORGIVE by fixing our eyes on God and not ourselves.

Are we forgiving today?

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for loving us so much that You forgave our sins through the sacrifice of Your son, Jesus.

Lord, as we go about our days being tested at work or at home we ask for kindness and patience to be upon us so that in turn, the name of Jesus be magnified and glorified!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

LENT

20 February 2021

Lent serves as a time of reflection upon Christ, a season of repentance and a time of dying to self leading to our renewal of faith.

It's critical though that we make it a time of developing a closer relationship with God and not only:

- Confessing our sins or acting good during this 40 days and not for the rest of our lives.

- Fasting, thinking that it puts us higher than those who do not or think we can earn more of God’s favor or love.

Whether or not one “gives up something”, let’s be encouraged to increase our daily appetite to include reading the word of God or devotions.

Hallelujah!

PEACE COMES FROM KNOWING OUR TRUE PURPOSE IN LIFE

19 February 2021

“AGREE with God, and be at PEACE; thereby GOOD will come to you.

— Job 22:21

To "AGREE" = being "ALIGNED" to God's opinion, feeling and purpose.

Then, we experience peace and good things. One may ask this, "how do we agree with what we do not know?"

Other versions of the Bible uses reconcile, submit and acquaint in place of agree.

We need to know God in his entirety (nature and teachings) and learn about His faithfulness and direction to His people whom trusted Him in the Bible.

Then, true peace in the sense of our conscience (Holy Spirit) will give us a deep and unexplainable joy!!

Have we asked God today, "Whats is your purpose and role for me?"

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for having gone ahead and planned for us our way.

Lord, as we go about our lives planning for ourselves, family or children, please help us see that Your will for us is the most important and for us to be sensitive to Your good good plans !!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Eddie Lee

PEACE COMES FROM ACCEPTING THE WAY GOD MADE US

18 February 2021

“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function.

— Romans 12:4

God appointed certain orders/roles within our church, company, team and family so that our strengths and weaknesses can complement each other and work towards a common goal.

He explained it beautifully by using our human body where there are different parts but all working harmoniously to sustain it.

I believe that this was done to promote and show our interdependence on one another to function well as a team.

But, It takes humility to recognize that this brings peace and harmony.

If not, we end up competing for personal glory which brings about disharmony and unrest.

Let’s recognise this unity, come alongside one another and say ‘we’ instead of ‘I’.

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for always loving us.

Lord, as You lead us into our roles in family, work or ministry please also give us a spirit of humility so that we learn to serve in our own roles and to regard others in higher interest than ours!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

PEACE COMES FROM OBEDIENCE TO THE WORD OF GOD

17 February 2021

“You shall walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you shall possess.

— Deuteronomy 5:33

As a young boy, I remember rebelling against my mum’s strict rules and doing the opposite. It was only when I was older that I realised those rules were for my own good.

"That we may live and be well" is a phrase used quite a few times to assure us of God’s promises when we listen and obey him.

Following God’s rules can be hard as it sets us apart from the world.

Where the world wants us to be angry, God wants us to be patient.

Where the world wants us to be material, God wants us to be contented.

Have we tried tuning our mindset to see God’s commands as a way to receive His blessings, instead of a joy killer?

Doing so, I believe God will prosper us in all things essential to not just the salvation of our souls but also the physical, emotional and mental welfare of our bodies!

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for loving us so much to save us despite our disobedience to You.

Lord, we ask that You help us overcome our willful nature and open our hearts so that we learn Your ways and live lives pleasing to you!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

PEACE COMES FROM KNOWING GOD'S IN CONTROL

16 February 2021

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

— Psalm 27:1

The word "Stronghold" stands out to me when I read this verse.

A stronghold gives us safety and security. Ironically, we can also be prisoners locked in our strongholds.

Maybe we think that we can control our future or family/kids by making education, work or even financials our safety net.

Truth is, we know that we have no control over the future hence are anxious, fearful and unstable.

Acknowledging and believing that God who created everything is in control, fear will no longer paralyze us as we know that there is no situation we face that is out of His hands.

Hallelujah!!!

Prayer

Dear God our Lord, we thank You for loving us.

Lord, please help us to see that You are our amazing God and that You always have the best plans for us no matter what situation we are in!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

TRUE INNER PEACE IS AN AWESOME GIFT FROM GOD

15 February 2021

Today, we are living in a complex world with many disruptions be it economic, financial, political or mental.

True Inner peace allows us to deal efficiently the day-to-day complexities of life by remaining calm even in hectic situations by:

- Not dwelling on worries and fears.

- Letting go of negative emotions.

- Becoming less judgmental and critical of ourselves and others.

- Helps us show more kindness and considerateness.

Over the next few days, let's journey together and learn about the practicality of peace from our one true teacher Lord Jesus :)

BEWARE OF THE DECEPTIVE DESIRES OF THE WORLD

13 February 2021

“And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”

— 1 John 2:17

Naked we came upon earth, and naked we go out of it. Can we carry any of our possessions or positions with us ?

Benjamin Franklin, a founding father of the US said "Money never made a man happy yet. The more he has, the more he wants. Instead of filling a vacuum, it creates one within.”

Today, lifestyle and comparison tempts us into chasing after material things and desires that SHACKLE and CONTROL us.

Entering God's family through faith in Christ allows us to exit this world's burdensome rat race and live a restful yet abundant life while awaiting our eternal home.

Friends, I encourage all of us to ask for God to show us our path and experience a lasting deep inner peace!!

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our loving Father, we thank You for having a plan laid out for each and everyone of us.

Lord, we pray that You always be our light guiding our way in this earth.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

LIVING A MEANINGFUL AND JOYFUL LIFE FOCUSING ON OUR INNER INSTEAD OF OUTER SCORECARD

12 February 2021

“And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all COVETOUSNESS, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.

— Luke 12:15

Warren Buffet shared that most people live by either an Inner or Outer scorecard and that it’s more satisfying to live on an inner scorecard.

In today’s world, our outer and inner selves are in frequent conflict as:

- Outer Scorecard turns on our switch for "Covetousness".

- Inner Scorecard turns on our switch for "Contentedness".

Our human nature always seeks praise worthiness in wealth, success, skills, looks or respect as we either want to be envied or feel envious of others.

This is also why it makes us empty inside and easily defeated as our worth is based on those things.

Friends, we can be contended if we do all as for the Lord and not man.

Our lives then finds fullness and blessings in any task, even the seemingly ordinary or common!

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for always going ahead and protecting us.

Lord, we ask for Your help to increase our faith so that we learn to place our self-worth in You instead of Your creations.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

LEAN NOT ON OUR UNDERSTANDING AND JESUS WILL SUPPLY WISDOM!!

10 February 2021

“Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures

— Luke 24:45

Do we recall being at a service and having our thoughts elsewhere?

Being unfocused and distracted, we develop our own perception and understanding instead.

I believe that's what happened when news of Christ's resurrection reached his disciples, they did not believe as it seems like an idle tale.

Truth is, too often our minds are shrouded by distraction/busyness and satan takes away the word of God from our minds and hearts even when we hear it.

Today, we may not have physical Jesus like the disciples. But, we have the Holy Spirit within us which Jesus gave us to be our helper.

I encourage all of us to ask the Holy Spirit to open our minds and guide His divine truth into our homes, marriages, work, life and be transformed!

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our loving Father, we thank You for Your living word which is readily available to us today in various means.

Lord, please instill the importance of keeping Your Word close to our hearts so that we are transformed and sanctified daily, living a life filled with Your glory!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

WINNING OVER TOXIC ARGUMENTS WITHOUT STOOPING TO THEIR LEVEL

08 February 2021

“As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him.

— Titus 3:10

My aikido teacher told us before that true winning is about the ability to walk away from destructive provocation.

Have we been in a toxic argument where the other party is dominating, thinks they are right and always wants to win?

They may think that they are being opinionated. Truth is, their pride is the motivating factor.

Healthy relationships thrive on constructive (humble) and not destructive (prideful) connections.

Pride is internally destroying that person. Do not let pride eat at us too especially when it is trivial .

We can beat them without having to join them by asking God to help us simply walking away or letting go!!

Enjoy our mental peace rather than matching egos!

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for always being our guide and for leading us.

Lord, please grant us patience as we deal with tough situations so we know how to handle it properly and wisely.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

GIVING UP OUR OLD MINDSET AND LIVING THE REBORN LIFE IN CHRIST THROUGH A RENEWED MIND

06 February 2021

“Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.

— Ephesians 4:23

Years ago, I got accepted into a job without relevant experience and the hiring manager told me that he prefers "Attitude" rather than "Aptitude".

I believe Jesus thinks the same way when He looks at us.

He wants us to learn from Him not by our own understanding, experience or seniority but by coming to Him in humility asking Him to teach and show us the way.

Leaning on our own mindset blocks us from experiencing how God's word can change our lives for the better when applied practically.

But, change can come with the help of the Holy Spirit teaching us to unlearn our ways and to learn God’s ways!

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our Lord, we thank You for gifting us with the Holy Spirit upon receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Lord, we pray that You draw us closer and closer everyday so that the Holy Spirit will work in us mightily to Your glory!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

LIVING A LIFE LED BY GRACE NOT BY CONDEMNATION

05 February 2021

“But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

— Galatians 5:18

Just as physical fruit needs time to grow, the fruit of the Spirit will not ripen in our lives overnight.

Moral excellence is important in our Christian walk but we cannot do it by ourselves following the 10 commandments as it's based on our human efforts.

Human efforts to fight temptation will be uphill as our sinful nature is not treated.

Divine efforts by the power of the Holy Spirit makes it increasingly easier by giving us a reborn nature.

Relying on the Holy Spirit, we will be daily sanctified, becoming more Christ like in our thinking, mindsets and perceptions.

I believe that’s a much better life to live!

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for sending Jesus to save us so that now we have the Holy Spirit to help us love Godly fulfilling lives.

Lord, we ask that You uproot all our bad natures that are destructive to us and our lives.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

INTERCONNECTING WITH JESUS LEADS TO LIFE

04 February 2021

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

— John 15:5

Interconnectivity is very much a big part of our lives today be it to the right department, person or information.

But, how often have we connected with Jesus?

He promises that when we remain connected with Him, He dwells in us, constantly nourishing us to survive and flourish living an abundant life.

Bearing fruit then just happens because it’s ultimately His fruit, not ours.

While we are going about our days, Jesus is doing the work in us as well.

Now, that's Jesus' beautiful truth!

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our Lord, we thank You for having loved us even even before we knew You.

Lord, as we go through our daily life, please guide and lead us so that we know what plans You have for us!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

FIGHTING OUR BATTLES THROUGH PRAYERS

03 February 2021

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

— Colossians 4:2

Whenever I pray, I envision this:

- God Almighty is our headquarter in heaven and in control of everything.

- Our protection comes through prayer and God hears us on earth in heaven.

- Satan who rules earth knows that prayer disarms him and aims to distract us by cluttering our lives.

- Knowing this evil force at work, we need to humbly submit and pray to combat his constant darts at us.

Friends, prayer is our protection for everything and we do not fight as losers but as victorious children of God.

We trust that God hears us and will work out His glory in our lives!

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for sending Jesus to be our door to receiving Your grace in our lives.

Lord, may Your truth be implanted in our hearts and minds so that we come to believe in You with fervent faith!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

FINDING STABILITY IN TODAY'S UNSTABLE WORLD!!

02 February 2021

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world

— John 16:33

Tribulation is defined as suffering and occurs as a result of man's sin.

The once perfect world that God created now becomes imperfect and carries inherent instability.

Today, instability exists in different forms from political, financial, relational and mental instability.

The thing is Jesus knew this way before we did and is merciful and gracious to provide us a solution to this tired world if we only but seek Him.

Life is tough but Jesus promises to give us peace and comfort in the midst of it!

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for being our light in this dark world.

Lord, as we go through life's battles, please give us wisdom and discernment so that we learn to go through it Your way and not our way.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

SPREADING THE GOOD NEWS BY SHOWING OUR NEW SELF

1 February 2021

“For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him

— Romans 10:12

An article from Forbes mentioned that it takes as little as seven seconds from meeting someone to form an impression of them.

Nowadays, It's so easy to judge as impressions are based on appearance, background and race.

This has dwindled our world into self righteousness. Unfortunately, we as Christians have a strong record of judging people this way.

Truth is, the good news of salvation is by grace through faith for EVERYONE who believes.

Let's not play God in people's lives by judging them but instead show the grace of God by demonstrating the fruit of the spirit to them.

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for loving us even before we knew You.

Lord, please teach us to be gracious and kind to all and instead to pray over others to come to know the love of Jesus!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
