AUTHENTIC GOODNESS BY BEING REBORN IN CHRIST

30 March 2021

“Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

— 1 Timothy 6:18

The Bible teaches that we as believers are not known by our fancy houses and golden gates but by our good works.

Just to be clear, our works does not make us righteous before God; just that good works is evidence of real saving faith in a renewed life.

God offers us a life radically changed by His amazing grace, and that is what sets us apart in society.

Let's ask God to help us love in a way that when the world looks at us, they don’t see a brand of clothing, they see a disciple of Jesus.

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our Lord, we thank You being our good and gracious Father.

Lord, please teach us that it’s only by dying to our ‘self’ that we can truly be reborn in Christ to lead joyful and fulfilling lives!!

In Jesus’ almighty name we pray. Amen.

HANDLING LIFE IN THE SPIRIT

29 March 2021

“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

— Ephesians 4:15

As believers, we trust in the word of God as "Truth" and "Wisdom" that teaches us to deal with any situation in life.

However, truth today can be disputed by anyone who has a different mindset or tradition making "Untruths Acceptable".

The lines between right/wrong are blurring and we may need to stand firm with someone who is against that.

During His ministry, Jesus knew this well and was sensitive yet firm in His replies always with the intention to build someone up and He did it by praying a lot to God.

Conflicts are imminent with work, family and friends but handling it with love and truth takes it from a superficial level to a deeper, lasting relationship.

Let’s continually pray for wisdom as it helps us in handling challenges by speaking under the guidance of the spirit of God which dwells in us.

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for loving us even before we knew You.

Lord, please teach us humility and give us wisdom so that we learn how to be more and more Christ-like in turn being better beings!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

BUILDING OUR DEFENSE AGAINST TEMPTATIONS WITH JESUS

26 March 2021

“For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

— Hebrews 2:18

The Bible teaches that we have a common enemy the devil from the moment we decided to be a disciple of Christ.

Just as the lion lurks around the perimeter of a flock of sheep waiting for a chance so is the devil right at every corner waiting for our moment of weakness so that he can entice us to indulge in it.

We have to recognise moments of weakness in our lives and be watchful and alert about it.

Was there times when:

- We were angry and chose to lash out with hurtful words?

- We look down on people from different backgrounds and thought of ourselves as superior?

- We did not exercise self-control restraining from our lust/habits?

- We were not thankful for what we have and keep aiming for more?

Friends, our fight in life is not with the physical but with the spiritual forces of evil and we can only be victorious against that through divine intervention.

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for sending Your son Jesus who is perfect to be sin for us so that we now walk righteous before You in Christ.

Lord, we ask that You bless us but also protect and keep us away from evil and temptations so that we live lives pleasing to You.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

SEEKING GOD FIRST PROTECTS US FROM OUR OWN SELFISH DESIRES

25 March 2021

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

— Matthew 6:33

This verse is straightforward. We are to seek the things of God as a priority over all things, remember what Jesus did for us and live in obedience to His word.

In doing so, He changes our minds and hearts and we care lesser about the things of the world and rely on God to take care of us by faith not by sight.

Calmness and Peace which one cannot explain and His divine providence shall be given to us.

Our current times are in the good hands of our almighty, sovereign and gracious God.

Have we received Jesus as Lord and Saviour today asking him to lead and guide us in all that we do?

Amen!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for always looking out for us and for taking care of us.

Lord, please strengthen our faith so that we know that You are our provider and learn to less lean on ourselves but on You instead.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

THE KEY TO SENSING GOD'S WILL AND PERFECT PLAN FOR US

23 March 2021

“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit” Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.

— James 4:13-15

Our lives may be shorter than we think. Even if we are careful drivers, the person who runs the red light may not be.

Or something could go wrong with our health. There are no guarantees. Even when long lived, we may feel time just flew by.

Have we been wasting our time on insignificant things when there is so little life to be lived and so much more meaning to life.

Let’s focus on placing God in the centre of our lives and ask for His direction and will to be done.

That way, we will experience His goodness and love flowing out into all areas of our life.

Remember, God does not need us but we need him!!

Praise the Lord!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for loving us even before we knew You.

Lord, please teach us in our daily lives to know that You are God and for us to be still and to lean on You for strength, wisdom and discernment.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

LIVING IN GOD’S WILL GIVES US A SUSTAINABLE LEGACY

22 March 2021

“I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come from you. And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.

— Genesis 17:6-7

Loving our children, we aim to leave behind a legacy for them either with education or some inheritance.

It’s good to "Empower" our kids but let’s be careful not to end up "Dis-Empowering" them instead, becoming slaves to our society.

There are two very real issues in Singapore today.

1) Mental health issues specific to academic and work stress are on the rise in younger age groups.

2) Millennial generation the kids of today and the future are branded as entitled, spoilt and materialistic.

Are we training our kids in the ways of our Lord so that they in turn are guided by God leading, fruitful lives.

Abraham's formula was simple:

Obedience to God’s word = Believing in God’s promises = Fruitfulness in Our Lives and Our Generations’ Lives to come!!

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank you for your grace and mercy in our lives.

Lord, please teach us that Your plans are always the best for us and for us to always lean on the truth so that we become secure and not insecure in today’s world!!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

THE KEY TO MAKING WISE GODLY DECISIONS

19 March 2020

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

— John 16:13

Our lives are choked filled with decisions and every decision comes with a consequence, be it good or bad.

We could be thinking about what to do with a work situation, investment opportunity, purchase of something, future planning, etc

A verse before states that Jesus still has many things to teach us just as He did his disciples.

Jesus wants us to lean on Him as a guiding light because He has already gone ahead and planned for us.

For us who received Jesus as Lord and Saviour, the Holy Spirit continues today to personally lead us into the truth of Scripture, giving us discernment vital in making proper choices for our journey ahead!!

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit to guide us and impart to us wisdom and discernment.

Lord, we ask that You draw us near and teach us Your ways so that we know the right decisions to make and right actions to take always!!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

IT'S CRUCIAL TO CONSTANTLY EXAMINE OUR LIVING

18 March 2021

“How shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard

— Hebrews 2:3

Have we forgotten the true meaning of our salvation or what was the blood of Jesus shed for?

Our salvation comes from the forgiveness of all our sins by God through Jesus' sacrifice making us right with God.

So, what should happen in the life of a believer who has truly believed and responded to the gospel?

Surely, our lives have to be different after being a believer of Christ.

Our words, thoughts or actions that we choose to make should reflect a renewed mind and heart.

If not anchored in the teachings of Jesus, we will drift with the currents of the world, flesh and the devil.

Have you examined yourself today?

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our Lord, we thank You for saving us through Jesus.

Lord, as we go through each day facing distraction and worries, please draw us closer to You so that we seek You more and more.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

GODLY WISDOM FREES US FROM WORRY

16 March 2021

“But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.

— Psalm 37:11

The fact that God uses the word meek or humility goes to show that the abundant inheritance we get is spiritual prosperity or true peace.

Being meek not proud allows us to see our need for Jesus as Lord and Savior instead of rejecting it.

In today’s world of self-confidence, self-centeredness and self-importance, we do not see the need to match up to others or expectations as our confidence lies in the Lord not man.

Filled with God’s wisdom and discernment, we will experience lesser envy, anger, jealousy or complaint.

We become at peace with ourselves, at peace with others around you and most importantly at peace with God!!

That's when we truly inherit the earth living joyfully!!

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for sending Jesus to be our Prince of peace.

Lord, in our troubled world we ask for Your wisdom so that we know what are things we should seek and things we should give up seeking!!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

SEE PEOPLE AS INDIVIDUALS, NOT LABELS!

15 March 2021

“And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” — Mark 2:17

How many times have we prejudice people because of the way they look, speak or work as?

Just as the olden day pharisees value people based on profession, past, lack of religious knowledge so do some of us as modern day 'pharisees' judge people based on financial status, appearance or achievements.

We think we are better because:

- We earn more

- We know more about the Bible then others

- We appear to be nicer or kinder

The list goes on.

Lord Jesus broke the norms looking beyond superficiality to people’s hearts and need.

Tearing all superficiality apart, we have the same need which is the MERCY and GRACE of God.

Truly understanding this, we develop humility before God and others.

Let see people not as labels but individuals.

Praise the Lord!!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for loving us even before we knew You and for Your mercy upon us even when we do not deserve it.

Lord we ask for graciousness and humility to be upon us so that we learn not to judge by belittling but to lead by becoming!!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

FREEDOM FROM OUR FEARS THROUGH PRAYER

11 March 2021

“I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.

— Psalm 34:4

Fear comes from disbelief while Faith comes from belief.

Just as Jesus’ disciples panicked in the boat during the storm so will we panic and face fear daily.

Today, Jesus is asking us just as He asked His disciples then, "Where is your faith"?

We may face fear as we do not know what's going to happen in our daily lives.

Importantly, we need to know that we have Lord Jesus who loves us and is with us every step of the way.

Walking with God daily, His goodness will manifest in our lives.

Let's not let fear displace our faith but rather let daily prayer increase our faith!!

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for being our solid unchanging rock and foundation.

Lord, please help us to see that even as the world changes and our circumstances seems to get hard, that You are the one we should lean on and trust, that You our God is all-knowing and works all things for our good.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

ARE WE MAKING WISE USE OF OUR LIMITED TIME

10 March 2021

“Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

— Ephesians 5:17

Life is not just about working, stress, anxiety and eventually dying. If not, our time becomes meaningless and not meaningful.

God has a purpose/plan for us because He loves and cares for us.

However, His plans do not always fit into our desires and we need to move away from being foolish so that we are one with God and rest in His will and wisdom.

Today, have we:

- Commit ourselves to God leaving Him to mold our choices/actions.

- Learn about God’s Word to know what's useful for our lives and not.

Walking wisely gives us meaningful direction in life!

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank you for your mercy and goodness upon us.

Lord, please give us wisdom and discernment so that we learn to know what's truly important in life and what's not!!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

HOW TO DISCOVER THE GOODNESS OF GOD

9 March 2021

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

— Psalm 34:8

This reminds me of times when I was food sampling where different vendors said their food was nice.

Some were good and some were not. The point is, I tried and experienced it for myself.

I believe this verse want us not to merely hear His word from others that the Lord is good.

God wants us to actively experience and sincerely believe that He is good.

In order to "TASTE", we need to first "FEED" on God’s word and "SEEK" him as our only source of protection and provision.

Then, His promise is that we will experience His goodness for us!!

What a good father we have ❤

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our Lord, we thank You for loving us.

Lord, even as we live in the physical world, please help us to see the importance of seeking You and to build our security in You instead.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

THE BATTLE IS THE LORD'S

8 March 2021

“Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you

— 1 Peter 5:7

Being saved through faith in Christ does not mean life will be all fine. In fact, God knows problems and worries are inevitable in our lives.

However, God is bigger than all our worries and problems put together, and we must realize that if we are to have any victory in our lives.

Letting satan deceive us into thinking that we can solve all our problems makes us discouraged and bogged down in life’s cares.

Let's be encouraged that even at times when we doubt Him and feel like He is not there.

God is right in our midst working for our good and His glory at His perfect timing.

Praise the Lord!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for loving us.

Lord, we ask for Your grace and strength to fill our lives so that we learn that a fulfilling life can only come by dwelling in You and Your goodness!!

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

ARE WE GETTING TOO CAUGHT UP IN OUR LIVES LIVING IN REGRET

05 March 2021

“And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

— Ecclesiastes 4:4

A hospice nurse counselling the dying in their last moments revealed that these are the top 5 regrets people have.

She spoke of the clarity of vision that people gain towards their end.

Today, are we enjoying what’s in our lives or are we focused on chasing hopes, ambition and expectations?

The devil is always trying to distract us, playing on our weakness telling us we need to do more, prepare more or need more.

It’s not about what others say, what I say or what you say. It's all about what God says in His living truth.

Let’s not "Just Live" but "Enjoy Living".

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our Lord, we thank You for providing all that we have.

Lord, please open our eyes to Your Word and to truly understand that life comes from seeking You and Your kingdom.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

HAVE WE BEEN CONTINUALLY BAITING OURSELVES WITH OUR TEMPTATIONS

4 March 2021

“But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death

— James 1:14-15

Our human heart was created by God with the capacity for desire to seek Him and His righteousness.

Due to free will, desire can be good or bad, based on our motives.

Hence, we play a key role in our own temptations.

Friends, have we asked honestly asked ourselves:

1) What are our temptations?

2) Whether or how it has affected us and people around us?

3) Have we made steps to move away or change from it?

Let's be encouraged that our God is faithful and He will always provide a way out for us !!

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our loving Father, we thank You for sending Jesus who is perfect to be sin for us so that we now walk righteous before You able to approach Your throne of grace.

Lord, we ask for You to increase the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives so that we are sanctified daily and live a life pleasing to You.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

DELIVERANCE FROM BITTERNESS AND ANGER

03 March 2021

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

— Ephesians 4:32

Forgiveness is a decision:

- To not give someone tit for tat despite what has been done or said to you.

- It is a deliberate act of love, mercy, and grace.

- It is an act of the will with no connections to emotions or weakness.

It is not granted because a person deserves to be forgiven but it is by the grace of God that we are forgiven to also forgive others graciously.

Bitterness and Anger only grows in us when we refuse to let go or forgive. On the contrary, forgiveness brings the forgiver peace of mind and frees us from corrosive anger.

In short, it makes us HAPPIER people!!

Hallelujah!!

Prayer

Dear God our loving and gracious Father, we thank You for first being merciful and kind to us even before we knew You.

Lord, we ask for patience and graciousness to be upon us as we go through our everyday lives knowing that we all are sinners and only you Lord can save us.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

INVESTING IN GOD'S WORD FOR ETERNAL STABILITY

02 March 2021

“You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.

— 2 Peter 3:17

In this distracted world, we often invest time to build our financials, family and health.

Have we invested time in learning about God our Creator of all?

Peter refers to the confidence and sense of stability which comes from living in the truth.

Knowing the Word is not just restricted to every Sunday sermon.

It involves reading the Bible continually, so that it takes root in our hearts and transform our thinking and actions.

Knowing the truth that is so different from the world will give us freedom!!!

Praise the Lord!!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for loving us even before we knew You.

Lord, we ask for Your help to anchor us in Your Word and to protect us from the distractions of the world.

May You give us the grace and strength to focus on You and to be obedient to You.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

SIN DESTROYS US AND OUR RELATIONSHIPS

1 March 2021

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

— 1 John 1:8-9

What is the definition of sin to us today? The Bible teaches that sin appears in various forms, from sexual immorality to fits of rage to selfish ambition to envy to hatred.

We are tempted everyday to sin from that thought in our mind to that careless word we cast out to lingering stares at the opposite sex.

Sinning needs to stop as it not only destroys our most important relationship with God but also with family and loved ones.

Just as Jesus forgives the woman in adultery, he also gave her a command to sin no more.

Whilst not perfect, our episodes of sin will become lesser by continually confessing it to God and asking Him for help with it.

He will then enable us to practice daily sanctification (cleanse) living a much rewarding and carefree life!

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for always hearing us.

Lord, please teach us to realise and be honest with ourselves what are sins that we commit commonly and to come to You in all humility asking for help to work through them.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. Eddie Lee
