When I read a devotional this morning, I saw the title: Freedom’s Chains. My thoughts: The chain is a long one. It doesn’t restrict our movements. In a storm, it doesn’t pull us down and get us drowned; It keeps us afloat; It helps us ride over the storm; That is the chain of redemption that keeps us safe in all circumstances and secure in His love.
Paul tells us that true freedom requires an authority to whom we submit –
“Don’t you realize that you BECOME the slave of whatever you choose to obey?” (Romans 6:16)
I am glad that I am not left alone to fight the huge waves sweeping over me. The writer of Hebrews tells us to keep our lives FREE from the love of money and be content with what we have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6, 8)
God commands Joshua (and all of us): Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. (Joshua 1:7)
Someone said that he was not lying but telling the truth (half of it)… Someone said that he was not gambling but buying hope… Let not our spirits be deceived. Let us always look to God for discernment so that the righteousness of God in Christ might reign over every aspect of our lives. Today, if you hear His voice, do not turn away.
Dear Father God,
I pray for a foundational purpose that will ground us in everything we do – a calling in the midst of many confusions. I pray for a functional priority that will govern us – a compass in the midst of many compromises. I pray for faithful passion that will grow us – a commitment in the midst of many compulsions. Amen!
We are spirit beings having a physical experience, not a physical being having a spiritual experience. Give us understanding of this amazing truth. Help us to live right in the body. Father God, sanctify us through and through. May our whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
Now may the Lord of peace Himself give us peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of us. Amen!
