In life, we must always grow and make progress. It does not matter even if we move backwards two steps after moving forward three steps so long as we are moving FORWARD, and looking UPWARD. My mentor told me, “Keep moving forward, always looking upward.”
There had been times when my flesh had conquered my spirit. I can remember some words spoken to me that were offensive, hurting and disappointing.
My Bible teacher once said, “If you hear something negative about yourself, you just need to ask one question: Is it true? If it is true, do something about it. If it is not true, just forget it.”
Yes, God knows everything. If it is true, God will convict us and change us. If it is not true, God will vindicate us.
There is a difference between conviction and condemnation. The Holy Spirit convicts us. Satan condemns. When the Holy Spirit convicts us, He will change us.
Paul says, “I am confident that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6) I love this verse. It’s full of hope. I am confident that God who has begun a good work (changing me to become more like Christ) will carry it on to completion.
The Bible also tells us: If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purifies us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
Jesus, when He was tempted by the devil had said: It is written… Therefore, if we are tempted by the devil to condemn ourselves, we should declare, “It is written: The Blood of Jesus Christ purifies me from all unrighteousness and therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.” Having declared that, we should not go away feeling proud that we have defeated the devil but we should go to God’s throne of grace.
The Bible says: We have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God. Let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16)
We are born imperfect having inherited the sinful nature of our forefathers and influenced by the corruption of our present-day world. Day by day, we see God’s values disappearing and the world decaying. It is time to repent and return to God.
Father God, we are truly sorry! We have continually sinned against You. Please forgive us. We bend our knees before You and ask You to restore us to original design - the beautiful design that You always have in Your mind. Work in us O Lord! We know that You will not stop working in us and through us. We know that You'd never give up on us. So today, we release to You all our unrighteousness and receive with thanksgiving Your mercy and grace. Fill us with the Holy Spirit. We know that we can now declare boldly and confidently - We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus! Amen!
The writer of Hebrews says, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account (Hebrews 4:13).
Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts!
