Why did Jesus appear before the women and speak to them personally after the angel had already told them what to do? Could it be the women were doubtful or fearful? I do not have the answer but my thoughts are: “Jesus loves the women as much as the men. He does not hesitate to appear to them even though He knows that they will cling to Him. Surely, there is no risk or danger to cling to Jesus, our Lord and Saviour." (With reference to Matthew 28:5-10).
When I read the verses 5 to 10 again and again, I felt a warmness fill my heart and I could only say, “Thank You Lord. You love us so much. Thank You.”
The Bible tells us that the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When THEY SAW HIM, they worshiped him; BUT SOME DOUBTED. Who (among the eleven) doubted? It was not ‘one disciple’ but ‘some’ the Bible says. Why do they doubt when they are eyewitnesses? How many confirmations / signs / miracles do we need before we believe?
Adam and Eve were deceived by the devil. Could it be: God has put into our mind the NEED TO QUESTION whether something is true or false, genuine or fake... The world today is flooded with fake news. Let us not be gullible. Let us question (examine) before we believe. So then, what is FAITH in God? What is FAITH in Christ? For me, God has shown me on countless occasions that He is at work in my life. He does not pave my way with roses all the time. He allows thorns to prick me. He allows stones to trip me. When it happens, I feel the pain but it is worth it. ["Don’t waste the pain," someone has said.] If everything is fine I would slip into complacency or lethargy.
If anyone teaches FALSE DOCTRINES and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial again. But godliness with contentment is great gain for we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. PEOPLE WHO WANT TO GET RICH fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Yes, the love of money is a root of ALL KINDS OF EVIL. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. This is the Word of God (1 Timothy 6:3-10). Thanks be to God.
Paul’s letters are not difficult to understand. His instructions to Timothy are clear. He doesn’t use parables to teach. I love reading Paul’s letters even before I commit myself to Christ. I needed a self-improvement book and Paul’s letters had provided answers to my questions on how to live right.
How would we know the truth if Jesus doesn’t reveal Himself to us? Therefore, I pray that all Christians (including myself) will continually hunger for God and seek the truth. God promises that we will find Him IF WE SEEK HIM WITH ALL OUR HEART.
