Quiet Time with Jesus – God’s heart

Tuesday, 9 May 2017

When I see lightning, I perceive it as God’s warning. When I hear thunder, I hear His voice of power. When I see the rain, I am reminded of Noah and God’s heart.

And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was GRIEVED in His heart.
— Genesis 6:6

When I see the rainbow, I am reminded of God’s promise:

Then the LORD said in His heart, ‘I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.’
— Genesis 8:21b

I had looked around the world with judgmental eyes for a long time. I believe God is ‘washing my eyes’ and renewing my mind over the years. I am beginning to see a new picture…

The Bible says,

I (The LORD) will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong, and feed them in judgment.
— Ezekiel 34:16
I will establish one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them – My servant David. He shall feed them and be their shepherd,” says the LORD.
— Ezekiel 34:23

My Prayer

SOVEREIGN LORD,

Thank You for the lightning, thunder, rain and rainbow. They remind me of Your Sovereignty. They remind me of Your grief and Your everlasting kindness.

There is evil in the world, but now I can see Your love working in the world. You are calling sinners to repent and to seek clean hearts.

Yes! With repentance and forgiveness, every day takes on a bright, clean appearance (just like after the rain). The change is like the beginning of a new life. Amen!

I pray for all followers of Christ to be instruments of Your work – everywhere on our planet earth.

In Jesus’ name I pray.

Amen!
