Quiet Time with Jesus – Spiritual Warfare

Friday, 5 May 2017

From time to time, I would meet something that I don’t like (e.g. something that irritates me). I would stop and mutter ‘STOP’ – Seek God, Trust God, Obey God, Praise God. I would remind myself to live a God-centred life in all circumstances.

God is my Healer. He heals me – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. He heals me and makes me whole – spirit, soul and body.

I am continually reminded that life as a Christ follower means that I must continually put on the Armor of God, pray in the spirit and war against the evil forces.

The Bible says: For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled (2 Corinthians 10:3-6).

I have realized that EVERYTHING we do IN CHRIST is spiritual warfare. Fasting is spiritual warfare. Worship is spiritual warfare. Praying is spiritual warfare. We have an adversary the devil walking about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8).

The devil is a liar, thief and killer. He is sneaky, brutal and evil. He hates everyone who professes to be a follower of Christ, who loves God, serves God, seeks God, trusts God, obeys God, praises God and lives a God-centred life.

We are warriors in the spiritual realm clothed in Armor, armed with the Sword of the Spirit, warring for souls and standing in combat against all destructive forces.

Let us be sober and vigilant (1 Peter 5:8). We cannot fight the devil with our flesh (2 Corinthians 10:4).

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank You for equipping us with the spiritual gifts of the Spirit. Thank You for providing us with the Armor of God. Thank You for the Sword of the Spirit.

We are fully aware of the enemy prowling around us looking for someone to devour. We are prepared and equipped. We are God-centred - in all circumstances.

We seek You, trust You, obey You and praise You - in all circumstances.

Sanctify us. Preserve us - spirit, soul and body – completely and without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

O Father God, You are faithful. You have called us. You will bring it to pass. (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)

Amen!

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
— Ephesians 3:20-21
