After my husband was diagnosed with cancer, I woke up every morning with the same word on my lips every morning for about three months: Mercy. I kept praying and asking God for mercy.
After forming the habit of continuously praying, I have peace because God’s presence (especially during times of uncertainty) was more real than before. He surprises me. What amazes me is His timely response to my response to Him. Yes, God who is ALMIGHTY, who is LOVE, who is PURE and HOLY, truly truly is a Good Good Father who responds to His children.
God gave Pharaoh chance after chance to respond to Him but Pharaoh refused to let God’s people go so that they can worship Him. In response to Pharaoh’s response (to Moses who was God’s mouthpiece), God responded by hardening Pharaoh’s heart. We have to be continuously aware of God’s response to our response to Him. Like a good father, he watches over us to make sure that we are not in danger. All His commandments are meant to build us up, not to tear us down, to strengthen us, not to weaken us, to equip us, not to harm us, to shield us, not to put us into danger. What a wonderful Father!
You are my good good Father in heaven. You know my thoughts. You know my heart. Before I do or say anything, You already know. You are the only ONE who can stop me in time. Father, I want to keep my antenna up to catch Your signals so that I may become more like Jesus when He was walking on earth. He is my role model. Jesus Christ is Your Beloved Son. I am Your beloved child. We (the church) are Your people – LOVED BY YOU.
Therefore, I pray and lift up the BODY OF CHRIST to You this morning. Prune us. Shape us. Refine us. Replace broken parts. Restore broken relationships. Put us together again and make us WHOLE. We are ONE IN CHRIST. We want to show ourselves as ONE PEOPLE OF GOD – firmly grounded in the WORD, empowered by the HOLY SPIRIT, and SENT BY YOU!

It is because of HIM that we are in CHRIST JESUS, who has become for us WISDOM FROM GOD – that is, our RIGHTEOUSNESS, HOLINESS and REDEMPTION. 1 Corinthians 1:30
