Quiet Time with Jesus – Utmost

Friday, 28 April 2017

Knowing the Father’s heart is my greatest desire. Knowing my own heart (in Christ’s light) – in true honesty and humility – will enable me to align my own heart’s desires to His.

Before His light can shine through us for others to see, the light of Christ must - first of all - shine into all the dark corners in our impure hearts - exposing to us all desires of the flesh…

Without the Holy Spirit, we are nearly defenseless against our own innate tendencies toward self-deception.
— Francis Frangipane

We are seeking a level of holiness that brings the glory of God into our lives. The means to holiness is GRACE.

Jonathan Edwards: Grace is but glory begun, and glory is but grace perfected.

Grace is always resident in the heart of God’s truth. Grace and truth are realized IN JESUS CHRIST (John 1:17). I want to remember that: What God’s truth demands, His grace will provide.

What the Promised Land was to the Israelites, Jesus Christ and the kingdom of God is to us.
— Francis Frangipane

So, are we in the Promised Land yet?

Some Christians would say ‘yes’ and some would say ‘no’. In all honesty and humility, I want to say ‘I’m on the way to the Promised Land. I will not settle or stop. I will move forward in step with the Spirit. He is my Guide. Amen.

The Bible tells us that a generation watched their parents die because they complained and murmured against the LORD. Only those who learned obedience to the ways and commands of God actually entered and possessed their inheritance. I choose to be reminded of what Jesus said, “The way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:14). I do not want to be deceived that I am already in the Promised Land. I choose to persevere in prayer and in love. I choose to hear and heed the warning of His Voice. I believe it is the Holy Spirit’s purpose to guide us into all truth (John 16:13). I also believe it is the grace of God that supports our every step.

Peter, Paul and John individually met the reality of Jesus Christ. They did not receive a “new spiritual insight” that left them SLAIN as dead men. They beheld the glory of God through Christ.

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Please let the Spirit of the Lord rest on us – the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. Let us delight in the fear of the Lord. (Isaiah 11:1-3a)

Please help us attain Your ultimate purpose for our lives, which is the revelation of Christ in us in glory. Please help us make it through each successive stage of revelation, each uncovering of His life to us and our lives to Him.

Please open our ‘eyes’ to see the truth of Christ and the lie of our old selves and instead of being overwhelmed, we shall STAND IN FAITH knowing the GRACE OF GOD is upon us.

I am convinced that: What Your truth demands, Your grace will supply.

In Jesus’ wonderful name, I pray.

Amen!

What is of utmost importance to me is the GRACE of GOD. Without His grace, I can accomplish nothing. Paul has signed all his letters (to us) with the same words “Grace be with you / you all.
