Quiet Time with Jesus – The World Is My Parish

Saturday, 23 April 2016

 My ex-classmates and I gathered together yesterday. How we have ‘grown’ from teenagers to grandmothers! Every person has a story to tell … Although we have different experiences we are now mature people, willing to listen to each other share about challenges and blessings in life. I was amazed when someone shared how Jesus had healed her daughter of paralysis. Praise the Lord!

This morning, God reminded me of John Wesley’s words: The World Is My Parish.

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank You for Your love and patience. You are teaching us how to complete our divine assignments. O Lord, please quicken our spirits! There is no time to waste. You have told us that nobody knows when Jesus will come again. But, we know that He is COMING SOON!

Your CHURCH is not confined within walls. A strong church is a ‘sending’ church. Send us Lord! We want the world to see Jesus in us! Amen!

Indeed, now we are the body of Christ, and each one of us is a part of it. And in the church You have appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues …

Please put into our hearts the desire for the greater gifts. Please give us knowledge and understanding of the ‘greater gifts’ and lead us so that we may do the things that You want us to do. And together we shall use the ‘greater gifts’ for Your Glory.

We know that Your Word and Spirit will guide us along the path to our divine destiny. Thank You that You have shown us THE MOST EXCELLENT WAY to put into practice the gifts that You have given us individually (as written by Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 13).

Thank You Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Amen!

Song: Mighty To Save

Everyone needs compassion; Love that’s never failing; Let mercy fall on me; Everyone needs forgiveness; The kindness of a Savior; The hope of nations;

Savior, He can move the mountains; My God is mighty to save; He is mighty to save; Forever, Author of Salvation; He rose and conquered the grave; Jesus conquered the grave;

So take me as you find me; All my fears and failures; Fill my life again; I give my life to follow; Everything I believe in; Now I surrender;

Shine Your light and let the whole world see; We’re singing for the glory of the risen King; Jesus, Shine Your light and let the whole world see; We’re singing for the glory of the risen King. Amen!

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

 God knows our deeds; God knows our hearts; Let us also know His Heart for the world. Indeed, the world is our parish – we are not confined within the walls of our churches – we are ONE Church, the people of God – ONE Family – adopted sons and daughters of the King of kings and the LORD of Lords. What a privilege!

Let us live it out as A chosen people, A royal priesthood, A holy nation, A people belonging to God, that we may declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His wonderful light.

Amen!
