Inspired by an awakening topic and the Holy Spirit, I opened ‘The Revival Study Bible’.

T. B. Barratt
Fire Came Down from Heaven
2 Chronicles 7:1
In T. B. Barratt’s meetings in Oslo, Norway, it was recorded that one preacher spoke in four separate languages that he did not previously know, one of them being English. Then he broke into prophecy, calling sinners to Christ: “Folks from all denominations are rushing to the meetings, many are seeking salvation and souls are being gloriously saved. Hundreds areseeking a clean heart, and the fire is falling on the purified sacrifice.”
When I read the above paragraph again and again, I noticed that the name of that ‘one preacher’ was not mentioned. It is not about that man or any man. It’s about the presence of God and the power of the Holy Spirit!
Nevertheless, I was still interested to know more about T. B. Barratt.
Thomas Ball Barratt (1862 –1940): Pentecostal pioneer in Europe, England. Barratt was born into a family of Wesleyan Methodists who moved to Norway while he was very young. As a bilingual Methodist minister in Norway, Barratt pastored several churches, translated a number of books from English, and defended the Methodist cause. In the years leading up to this time a great hunger and heart cry ascended from evangelical believers in Sweden, Germany, Holland, and across Europe. In 1906, he was in America raising funds for his Oslo mission work. While at A. B. Simpson’s missionary home, he had a mighty touch of God’s anointing, which he at first called the baptism in the Spirit. Barratt heard of the Los Angeles Azusa Street outpouring, and that prompted him to seek God earnestly. While staying and praying with his Irish friend Pastor Brown, the fire of God fell upon him, and he began to speak and sing in tongues. For twenty years, he had been a minister without this blessing; it was a night they would never forget. Barratt returned to Norway without the hoped-for finances but with a “blessing of greater worth than every cent in America.” Two months later, he began to preach this Pentecostal message in Oslo. Despite much opposition, great crowds flocked to these public meetings, hundreds at a time began to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and ministers came from other European countries, like A. A. Boddy from England and Lewi Pethrus from Sweden, hungry to receive from God in revivals that spread like fire through their churches.
Unquote (emphasis mine)
Dear Holy God, let Your fire fall! We are hungry for more – more of You in our church @ Cairnhill, in all our churches in Singapore, in all our churches all over the world. Hallelujah! O, Holy, Holy, Holy God! Let Your glory fall! Amen!
We are hungry for more – let us overflow with power and love and the mind of Christ. Amen!
We will no longer be distracted, deceived or destroyed by things of the world! We will have a kingdom mindset because we know that we have been raised with Christ and so, we will set our hearts and minds on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Yes! Our lives are now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, appears, then we also will appear with Him in glory. O, what a glorious day!
Dear Father God, let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts since we were called to peace. Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly. Amen!
When I was listening to our Treasury Manager teach us the mechanics of a sophisticated and complicated financial product, I caught these words: It’s very easy – buy low, sell high; borrow low, lend high. How true! Man can make a lot of complicated stuff but the basic is still the basic! The fruit depends on the root. If our roots are growing deeper and deeper into His Word, our fruit will grow closer and closer into His image. Hallelujah!
Only one thing matters to mankind – to die and live again in God’s image. Amen!
