Beth Moore: Sometimes, the challenging jobs are the most rewarding …

Bible Trivia: Who parted the waters of the Jordan by striking the water with a rolled up mantle?

Answer: Elijah (2 Kings 2:8)

Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up and struck the water with it. The water divided to the right and to the left, and the two of them crossed over on dry ground.

LYL: Moses parted the Red Sea and Elijah parted the river Jordan. They did the impossible!

Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.
— Exodus 14:16

Challenging jobs are the most rewarding.

When I was in secondary school, I gave up aiming for perfect scores because it was impossible. When I took my Montessori mock exam, I failed beyond imagination! All my confidence was shattered and it flew out of the window! No longer complacent, I prepared myself for the real exam.

On my way to the exam venue, I sat in the bus singing ‘Doxology’ (softly) again and again. Why ‘Doxology’ I don’t know.

In the exam room, the sun came in and flooded the entire place. Two students were to take the practical exam at the same time. When both of us stepped out of the room after the exam, we looked at each other, amazed …

Although we were course-mates, we hardly talked to each other. But at that moment, we knew we had to talk. So, we went to Telok Ayer Food Centre, sat down and words poured out from our mouths and our hearts - unstoppable! We could not stop praising God!

Cutting a long story short, we both had the same experience (lesson) i.e. we were not doing what we should do, and God had to ‘knock’ our heads hard to ‘wake’ us up. When we did what we should do, He rewarded us - I scored 98 out of 100 and she scored either 99 or 97 (I cannot remember) but it doesn’t matter. To us, we had ‘perfect scores’ because God was with us. Hallelujah!

So, I agree absolutely that challenging jobs are the most rewarding – not when we try to do it on our own ... We learned thatwe must do our part. And when we do our part, God does His – He rewards! Thanks be to God!

“… my whole world is caving in/but I feel You now more than I did then/How can I come to the end of me/And somehow still have all I need/God I want to know You more/Maybe this is how it starts/I find You when I fall apart/Blessed are the ones who understand/We got nothing to bring but empty hands/Nothing to hide & nothing to prove/Our heartbreak brings us back to You …

I find You when/You will find me when/I fall apart …” (Song: Josh Wilson – Fall Apart)

My prayer: Dear Father God, You are so so good! You are always watching! You never sleep! You never let go of me! You never let me slip! You are always watching! You catch me before I fall! I thank You! I praise You! I love You! O LORD Your love is overwhelming!
