I have listened to messages delivered by different ministers. I have also sat at the feet of different teachers. I note that God’s calling on each preacher (person) is different. If he carries out God’s assignments faithfully, serving passionately with the power of the Holy Spirit, he will bear fruit that lasts.
After he answered Jesus three times that he loved Him, Peter turned and saw John … He asked Jesus, “Lord, what about him?”
Jesus knew what was in Peter’s mind (and heart). Likewise, Jesus knows what is in our minds and our hearts - each and every one of us.
Sometimes, I get burdened when the Word is preached. Then, I would sense the Spirit's prompting ... and as He leads, I would pray:
Dear Father God,
In the name of Jesus, I pray that my brother (or sister) will faithfully and consistently preach Your Word with power, clarity and authenticity. May all hearers of Your Word be blessed and faith be increased. Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. Lead us and guide us as we walk through Your Word, living it out for Your glory! May our love abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that we may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ.
Enlighten us! Enable us! Empower us! Let us speak the truth in love, so that we will in all things grow up into Christ, who is Head of the Church. From Him, the whole body, shall be completely joined and held together by every supporting ligament. We shall continue to grow and build ourselves up in love, as every one of us carries out Your assignment - full of faith and the Holy Spirit! Hallelujah!
