The transfiguration of Jesus on the sacred mountain must have been an out-of-this-world experience for Peter, James and John. And then hearing the voice of God must have been the most terrifying moment. No wonder Peter, James and John fell facedown to the ground terrified.
The fear of the LORD must have overwhelmed them. Our LORD God is a pure and holy God. Who can stand in His presence? Such an awesome encounter with Him is beyond human imagination.
Jesus was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. (Matthew 17:2)
Jesus’ face shone like the sun – radiation. Jesus’ clothes became as white as the light – reflection.
Who is Jesus?
While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him!” (Matthew 17:5, Mark 9:7, Luke 9:35)
How often do we chatter when we should be silent? When we encounter the presence of God, how do we respond? Do we fall facedown to the ground like Peter, James and John?
Jesus came and touched them. The Son of God stooped and touched his three disciples.
Jesus is the Son of God and God is love. Love came down from heaven above and touched man...
Dear Father in heaven,
Your love is beyond human imagination. Truly, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Father God, give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we may know You better.
In Jesus’ name I pray.
Lam Yee Ling
Father, not my will but Yours be done. Amen.
