I fell asleep during lecture time (Bible Study). It is not the first time. I need to have sufficient rest (sleep) for my physical body.
There is a continuing struggle in the physical, mental, moral and spiritual areas of life.
Health is the balance between the physical parts of my body and all the things and forces surrounding me. To maintain good health I must have sufficient internal strength to fight the things that are external.
If I want to maintain a strong and active mental life, I have to fight. This struggle produces the mental balance called thought.
Anything that does not strengthen me morally is the enemy of virtue within me. Whether I overcome, thereby producing virtue depends on the level of moral excellence in my life. But we must fight to be moral. Morality does not happen by accident; moral virtue is acquired.
Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation …” (John 16:33). This means that anything which is not spiritual leads to my downfall.
Jesus went on to say, “… but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
In a social setting, a question was asked about the law of our country … During quiet time with the Lord, I was brought back to the garden of Eden. The tree of knowledge of good and evil was there – in the garden.
Why didn’t God destroy the tree? Why didn’t God remove the tree? Why didn’t God fence up the tree?
God simply spoke. God told Adam what NOT to do.
Likewise in the world, there are places we should NOT go, and things we should NOT do.
What is our response - to the law of the country, the rules imposed in schools, the rules set by our parents at home, and the still small voice of the Holy Spirit in us?
God has written His commandments 3 times – 2 times on stone, and the 3rd (last) time on our hearts.
What is our response?
Dear Father God
I must learn to fight against and overcome the things that come against me, and in that way produce the balance of holiness. Then, it will become a delight to meet opposition.
I want to remember Your command: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
Holiness is the balance between my nature and the law of God as expressed in our Lord, Jesus Christ.
I pray that we complain less, criticize less … but instead be the ‘change’ that You want us to be.
I pray that we learn to abide in You and Your word, that we may live a LIFE worthy of Your calling.
I take heed of Your word in Revelation 2:7
In Jesus’ wonderful, beautiful, glorious and matchless name I pray.
