Quiet Time with Jesus – God’s Gifts

James 1:17

“Every good and perfect gift is from above …”

Conviction of sin is the beginning of an understanding of God.

Oswald Chambers (OC)

Jesus Christ said that when the Holy Spirit came He would convict people of sin (John 16:8). And when the Holy Spirit stirs a person’s conscience and brings him into the presence of God, it is not that person’s relationship with others that bothers him but his relationship with God – “Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in your sight …” (Psalm 51:4).

Paul said, “Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation …” (2 Corinthians 7:10).

Through the sharp, sudden pains of repentance … and the deepest desire to be right with God … the Holy Spirit begins His work – the formation of the Son of God in our lives.

“My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you.”
— Galatians 4:19

Our new life in Christ will reveal itself in conscious repentance followed by unconscious holiness. OC said that the foundation of Christianity is repentance … repentance is a gift of God.

My Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Do NOT let our hearts be superficially repentant … Help us to examine ourselves to see if we have forgotten how to be TRULY repentant.

It’s Your Blood that cleanses me; It’s Your Blood that gives me life; It’s Your Blood that took my place; In redeeming sacrifice; Washes me whiter than the snow, than the snow; My Jesus, God’s precious sacrifice …

Let me remember that I am a citizen of Your Kingdom – Your Kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy.

Let me remember that I no longer live by the standards of this world.

More importantly, let us (the Body of Christ) stand united as One in Christ – remembering that we do NOT wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are NOT the weapons of the world. On the contrary, our weapons have divine power to demolish strongholds. We can demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. We can take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ, our Lord (2 Corinthians 10:2b-5). Amen!

Let us (the Army of God) be armed in the full Armor of God. Let us pray without ceasing.

By Your grace, we can stand on Your Word. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we can trust in You with all our hearts and lean NOT on our own understanding but in ALL our ways, we acknowledge You, and You will make our paths straight. Amen.

We give You thanks! We give You praise! We declare, "Every good and perfect gift is from You!" Hallelujah! Thank You Abba Father!
Amen!

Father, not my will but Yours be done. Amen.
