Quiet Time with Jesus – sin

Monday, 7 December 2015

The worst thing that can happen is - when someone who did evil does not recognize it and does not see it as sin.

Sin cannot be ignored. King Solomon wrote:

There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins.
— Ecclesiastes 7:20

The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought before Jesus a woman caught in adultery … They were setting a trap to have a basis for accusing Jesus.

But Jesus did not utter a single word. Instead He bent down and started to write on the ground with His finger.

The Bible does not tell us what Jesus wrote. After listening to many Bible teachers, I think Jesus might have written the names of many women on the ground. The men around Him must have pressed forward to see what He was writing. The men started to leave. The other men behind must have continued to press forward and kept on questioning Him.

Finally, Jesus straightened up and said to them,

“If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

Again Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground. The Bible says that all the men left until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.

The woman could have left too but she did not. She stood before the Son of God, the only Man without sin. She stood before God to face judgment and condemnation.

None of us is in the position to condemn anyone because there is not one person on earth who never sins.

But Jesus does not want man to continue to sin. He is saying to us,

I do not condemn you. Go and live a new life. Leave your life of sin.
— John 8:11

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Jesus is the only Man who never sins. Jesus is the Perfect Sacrificial Lamb of God. Jesus died so that man may live.

Thank You for the Lamb of God. Thank You for the Blood of the Lamb. Thank You for Your Grace. Thank You for giving me a New Life. I want to leave my life of sin. I want to live out a new life - in Christ. Give me clean hands and a pure heart. May my heart be like Yours. Amen!

To whom it may concern

If you feel the same, say the above prayer with me.

Lam Yee Ling

Not my will but Yours be done. Amen.
