Quiet Time with Jesus – servants

Saturday, 5 December 2015

I know that You can do all things; no plan of Yours can be thwarted.
— Job 42:1
Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.
— Job 42:4
My ears had heard of You but now my eyes have seen You. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.
— Job 42:6

When our eyes have seen the Lord, we would despise ourselves and repent … But God does not despise a broken and contrite heart. When we repent, God sees our heart.

The LORD told Job’s friends to take seven bulls and seven rams and go to His servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for themselves. It is interesting to note what God said,

My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept His prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken of me what is right, as My servant Job has.
— Job 42:8

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank You for the Old Testament. Thank You that You have written the Bible for us to study … to know You … to ‘walk’ through the Bible with Your servants so that we may become Your servants too.

Father God, I pray that we do not just hear of You, but that we know You personally and intimately, that our eyes may actually see You.

Despising ourselves seem like very strong words but that is absolutely the right thing to do because we have all sinned against You. Only the Blood of the Lamb can wash away our sins. Only the Holy Spirit can change our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen!

What an honor when You call us Your servants. I want to be Your servant! You have called Your servants to pray for sinners and You will accept our prayers. You will not deal with sinners according to their folly. Sinners include followers of Christ who do not speak of You what is right – even well-known preachers and teachers of the Word.

Therefore, I pray that all hearers of the Word to have discernment and determination to persevere in prayer. You will accept our intercession and You will not deal with our erroneous brothers and sisters according to their folly. Instead, Your Holy Spirit will work powerfully and miraculously through gentle correction.

Like Job, I declare that – “You can do all things; no plan of Yours can be thwarted” – Amen!

I am convinced that Your Holy Spirit will convict and correct Your servants according to Your plan and purposes. I am convinced that one day, all knees will bow and all tongues will confess that JESUS CHRIST is LORD. Amen!

Correction in truth and in love is the way – Jesus’ way of dealing with humanity. Jesus Himself has said,

He who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
— John 14:12

Jesus wants us to accomplish even greater things than He had accomplished in His three years of active ministry! That is LOVE!

Oh yes, Father God, search our hearts and renew our spirits. We want to be teachable! We want to be taught by Your Holy Spirit! We want to walk in Your perfect Will! We want to do our part to fulfill Your redemptive Plan and Purposes! We will obey!

In Jesus’ marvelous name I pray!

Lam Yee Ling

Not my will but Yours be done. Amen.
