Quiet Time with Jesus – Open our eyes, LORD!

Saturday, 31 October 2015

On Sunday 25 Oct 2015, I decided to take a taxi to church. Whenever I get into a taxi, I have a habit. I would chit-chat with the taxi driver. As usual, I started a conversation … To my amazement he asked me, “Are you going to church?” He told me that he frequently sends people to church on Sunday mornings, sometimes as many as four. He claimed to be a ‘free-thinker’, retired with two adult children and enjoying life as a relief taxi-driver. Then, he told me that he had recently met a Christian by the name of Isaac and he was very impressed by Isaac’s sharing - he used the word ‘phenomenon’.

He seemed to be asking me to share and I did … Just before I alighted from his taxi, I encouraged him to call Isaac who had invited him to church. I told him, “This is a divine arrangement … God is inviting you to meet him in church.” I prayed earnestly that this taxi-driver (Mr Seah) will contact Isaac. I have done my part. I believe God will do the rest. Amen!

Evangelism has to be intentional and deliberate. It is easy when we are led by the Holy Spirit. We do not speak with human logic but with power from God. He gives abundantly whenever we ask Him. Words from our mouths will be anointed with power and love. Surely, His words spoken through us will melt the hardest heart! It is the Holy Spirit who convicts; It is God who judges; It is Jesus who forgives, heals and saves; We are merely a messenger of the Good News. Amen!

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith in Christ Jesus, we have PEACE with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into the GRACE of God in which we now stand. We rejoice in the HOPE of the GLORY of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out HIS LOVEinto our hearts by the HOLY SPIRIT, whom He has given us. (Romans 5:1-5)

God demonstrates His own LOVE for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
— Romans 5:6

Salvation is God-given, God-driven, God-empowered, and God-originated. The gift is not from man to God. It is from God to man. Grace is created by God and given to man. And by grace we have been saved through faith and that NOT of ourselves; It is the GIFT of God (Ephesians 2:8).

Therefore, Father God, I ask for grace and peace, joy and love, Your presence and power, as I learn to walk in Your Spirit, intentionally touching hearts, deliberately changing lives and actively transforming the world. Amen!

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Please open our eyes to see You! Sharpen our ears to hear Your voice:

“I am Jesus … I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of Me and what I will show you. I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.” (Acts 26:15b-18)

O LORD, hear our song:

“Here I am waiting, abide in me I pray; Here I am longing for You; Hide me in Your love; Bring me to my knees; May I know Jesus more and more; Come live in me all my life, take over; Come breathe in me and I will rise on eagle’s wings! (Song: Eagle’s Wings)

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
