REVIVING OUR PASSION FOR LIFE

27 February 2020

“Whatever you DO, work HEARTILY, as for the LORD and not for MEN.” - Colossians 3:23

God worked to create the world and Adam was created to work and take care of the garden of eden. As such, work is deeply rooted in our lives no matter our roles. By the way, being a stay home mum/dad or spouse is also work. Work is created by God to take care of his creations by having different individuals with different gifts working in harmony to reflect his selfless love.

However, disharmony happens when we seek the praises or acknowledgement of people for our efforts. Instead of being thankful, we become resentful and bitter, grumbling and complaining rather than complaining about serving others at home, at work, in church, or community.

Scripture reveals that the sustaining joy of working is to not look to people for praises but to look to God for his timely reward. Working for God, we become refreshed and re-energised daily to continue being passionate about our lives! Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank you for loving us. Lord, life is tough and is naturally wearing us down day by day. Please help us stay refreshed and energised in your grace as we go about our days till the day you come back to bring us back to our eternal home! In Jesus mighty name we pray! Amen!

EVERY CLOUD HAS A SILVER LINING

26 February 2020

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31

As children of God, our loving father wants a deep relationship with us. Building a bond with God essentially means:

  • Spending time with him through his word

  • Believing in his power

  • Being conscious of his presence with thanksgiving.

Our bonding with God brings about the empowerment of the holy spirit and allows us to take the lead from an eagle when facing an impending storm in our life. The eagle knows when a storm is coming, uses the winds of the storm to lift it higher and soars above it. While the storm rages below, the eagle soars above. It is not trying to escape the storm but rises on the winds that bring the storm and glides above.

God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that bring sickness, failure and disappointment in our lives, soar above it and have PEACE in our hearts. What a way to deal with adversity! Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank you for having heard us and for always hearing us. Lord, as the demanding nature of life weighs us down we ask for your grace to be upon us so that we are strengthened and guided by your wisdom especially in times of hardship. In Jesus mighty name we pray! Amen!

GOD IS OUR LIFE SUPPORT THAT WILL NEVER DRY OUT

25 February 2020

“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:22-23

Everyday is new and presents itself with different challenges, tasks and situations. The bible teaches in Ephesians 1:11 that God is sovereign and in control of everything especially our lives which he already has planned out.

We were never meant to shoulder the stress of the world ourselves as doing so causes us to break down be it emotionally, physically or mentally. As the world gets sucked into a whirlpool of results and busyness, it may be time for us to take a step back, reflect and realign ourselves to Gods limitless powerful grace.

Placing our hope in his never ending love, he can make new all parts of our life (All means All) that needs RESTORATION. Before we step out today, lets commit all who we are and all that we do to God and trust in his will for us! Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank you for loving us even though we are unworthy.

Please keep us close to you Lord so that we may learn to lean on you for wisdom to go through life! In Jesus mighty name we pray! Amen!

GOD IS OUR PROTECTION AND STRENGTH

23 February 2020

“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.” — Psalm 56:3

Have we ever told our spouse and children that we are scared? Most of the time we swallow it, shield them from our fears and difficulties to show that we are strong.

We as adults face overwhelming pressures both:

  • Internal: Provide financially for the family, be involved in our children lives and to be the best example for our spouse.

  • External: Constantly stressing about salary growth, involved in unwanted office politics and maintaining relational harmony.

Whether we admit it or not, we often struggle with expectations people place on us. In our pride, we are scared to admit that we are afraid even before God. Brothers and Sisters, we will always deal with fear and be afraid of the future.

These are exact moments that remind us of what is always true and that is we need God. Lean on him, we have the NEED and he has the STRENGTH! Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank you for loving us. As we go about our day with work and family, please grant us a spirit of humility so that we learn to lean on you for strength and wisdom! In Jesus name we pray! Amen!

TRUE RICHNESS LIES IN GODLY CONTENTMENT

21 February 2020

“Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God

— Proverbs 30:8-9

May I kick start our day with a question? Do we fear getting rich as well as fear getting poor? The thing is both financial success and ruin are deceitful in nature as there is the danger of being arrogant from riches and sin temptations of being poor.

A few honest truths about money (How Much is Enough?):

  • It does not satisfy long term, even when we get lots of it (just temporal indulgences).

  • It disappears quickly.

  • It corrupts morals (brings about pride and greed)

  • We cannot take it with us when we pass away.

  • It chokes out fruitfulness.

Let's believe in faith that God will give us our perfect balance of provision and family time when we pray according to God's will. True richness lies in trusting our God to provide what is needful for us according to his will! Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, We thank you for having heard us for always hearing us. Lord, as we go about working diligently, please guide us not to be too engrossed in chasing the material things of the world but to always bear in mind that you will provide what's needful for us. We trust in you and that your plan for us will be the best plan. In Jesus mighty name we pray this! Amen!

LEADING THE OVERCOMING LIFE

20 February 2020

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” — James 4:7

Resisting can be defined in 2 ways:

  • Resisting God by not submitting to him.

  • Resisting the devil by submitting to God.

Therefore, I believe that:

  • Submission to God gives us power to resist the devil by living in the spirit.

  • Non submission to God opens us up to temptations by the devil by living in the flesh.

Submission comes from humility before God and making PRAYER our weapon to all situations in life.

The bible teaches in James that God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Grace overflows into our lives making us victorious. Being victorious in life is not all about provision. It is also about:

  1. Being thankful for the smaller things in life.

  2. Contented with our possessions and not wanting better always.

  3. Character changes allowing you to also show grace to others.

Then, we start experiencing a truly restful life! Praise the Lord!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, We thank you for loving us. Today’s world teaches us to be trapped by the demands of life and work. Teach us Lord instead to surrender ourselves to you so that in you we may gain the true meaning of Life. In Jesus mighty name we pray this!

Amen!

SECURITY IN THE FACE OF DANGER

19 February 2020

“But whoever LISTENS to ME will live in SAFETY and be at EASE, without FEAR of harm.” — Proverbs 1:33

Life is scary and it just got real in Singapore with the novel coronavirus. Looking at recent news, it's clear that Fear runs and consumes our lives.

The world is broken because of sin and it's normal for us to feel anxious or scared but it is never Gods plan to allow Fear to control us. Quite the opposite, God's word gives us clarity and insights such as:

  • Truth about humanity and reasons for recent current events.

  • Truth about God's character and how we are redeemed through Christ.

  • Guidance and Encouragement on how we should lead our lives in good times and bad.

Armed with his word, we know that that life will not be perfect and easy but we can look beyond our fears to God’s strength and wisdom. He makes us secure and calm despite the noise and chaos around us!! Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our loving Father, we thank you for hearing our cries of help and desperation amidst the current virus situation. Please give us a spirit not of fear but of confidence as we go about our days not crippled by what is going on in the world today. We thank you for everything that you have done for us. In Jesus mighty name we pray! Amen!

THE HOPE THAT SUSTAINS GENERATIONS

15 February 2020

“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” — Romans 15:4

Hope (Confidence) is Beautiful as it enables us to get through a difficult situation at the same time making it bearable. However, what we choose to put our hopes in can be deceptive. Satan knows this well and has tuned the world into placing their hopes in reputation, wealth and other material things. He knows that these worldly objects are false hopes and when collapsed brings about troubles to our mental, emotional and physical health.

It serves to eventually DIS-ENCOURAGE and not ENCOURAGE. Jesus teaches that by staying focused in him, we may have peace even in the midst of trial. Lets experience a renewed mind as we fill ourselves with an eternal not temporal hope that the living word of God offers! Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank you for having heard us and for always hearing us. Lord, as the world places its hopes in thing that are but temporal, give us wisdom so that we may look to you our loving Father as our source of hope. In Jesus mighty name we pray!

Amen!

TRUST AND PATIENCE IN THE LORD'S TIMING

14 February 2020

“He will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the later rain, that you may gather in your grain and your wine and your oil. And he will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be full” — Deuteronomy 11:14-15

In olden days, farmers look to rain as sustenance for their crops to grow and bear fruit. But, it has to come at the right time and amount so as to produce the best fruit A verse before this teaches us that we can be confident in this promise when we obey, love and serve God.

God knows our hearts and does not demand a forced obedience. He wants a real relationship stemming from love for him. In a loving relationship, obedience and serving then flows naturally and willingly. Jesus was sent down to earth so that Gods word can become flesh in order to minister to and for us to learn from his teachings. Being obedient to God, he promises to fight our battles in our work, business, health or relationships.

Let's trust in God that he provides the rain (sustenance) for our land in its season (time) and believe in faith that his timing will always be the best! Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for always being there with us even we are in our darkest moments, you are there. Lord, please guide us so that we will lean on you and trust in your plans for us which will be executed at the right timing which will always be the best timing for us. We thank you in Jesus name we pray! Amen!

MAKE WISDOM OUR NUMBER 1 PRAYER REQUEST!

12 February 2020

“Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding.” — Proverbs 3:13

Life is complex and we need lots of wisdom to make good choices in many practical issues.

Fear of God is foundational to true wisdom as its recognizing and trusting in God of his love for us. Even, the richest and most powerful King Solomon whom I believe has countless advisors asked God for wisdom to govern his people, what more we with our decisions about children upbringing, work, health and relationships.

We learn from James 1:5-6 that when we ask in full faith and without doubt for wisdom from God, he will give it to us generously. With Godly wisdom, we then gain understanding to discern between right/wrong and how to respond and deal with a situation.

Have you asked for Godly Wisdom to lead you in your work, health or relationships today?

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, We thank you for loving us. Lord as we go about todays life in work, family and health, help us to lean on you evermore for wisdom as your ways surpasses any other! We ask for your grace in giving us understanding so that we may lean on you instead of our own might. In Jesus mighty name we pray! Amen!

BEING THANKFUL TO CONTINUALLY STAY HUMBLE

11 February 2020

“Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches.” — Jeremiah 9:23

In this modern day and age, it is easy to become prideful over our talents and accomplishments. When that happens, our focus moves from glorifying God to glorifying ourselves. It is not wrong to be thrilled of your achievements as long as you understand that they are God-given.

However, we need to be wary if we get envious or jealous of other people's successes as it is a sign that we are longing for the material glory of men.

The world is now looking at their cars, their houses, their clothes and their jobs as their worthiness to live. as children of God, lets give thanks for every crust of bread rather than complain about a slightly burnt dish. Let’s stop the performing, pretending and trying to prove ourselves. Because we have nothing to prove.

The bible says, "For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself." We thank you God for being our source for all that we have. Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank you for providing everything that we have! The world promotes idolatry in things apart from you such as our career, cars and money. Please keep our minds and hearts guarded Lord so that we may truly know focus on you no matter how little or much we have as you our God is the source and those things are but your creations. In Jesus mighty name we pray! Amen!

THE DOWNSIDE OF FREE WILL

10 February 2020

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” — Ephesians 4:30

A critical difference between us believers and pre-believers is that we have the holy spirit living in us that encourages us, comfort and frees us from our sin weakness yet not based on our own effort.

However, the bible also teaches that we can resist the holy spirit through free will. A perfect example would be when we get angry at someone (it could be our spouse or children) and knowing about the fruit of the Spirit, we still choose to lash out in anger or speak words that hurt instead of heal.

The Holy Spirit controls our thoughts, which in turn influence our words and actions. We can choose to bottle up feelings of hatred or anger which we know will only explode or we can ask a greater power the holy spirit to help us dissipate it and free us of bad thoughts, non helpful words/comments and actions whenever we feel the urge to shout or use destructive words in a tense situation. Have you asked for help from your holy spirit today?

Prayer

Dear God, we thank you for loving us and sending the holy spirit to help us. Lord as we go about our lives please help us to be sensitive to the holy spirits leading and to lean on it as a guiding light. Give us strength Holy Spirit to resist any temptations that we may have. In Jesus name we pray this! Amen!

ENJOY TRUE REST BY BEING IN GODS PRESENCE

8 February 2020

“Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please SHOW me now YOUR WAYS, that I may KNOW you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people. And he said, “My PRESENCE will go with you, and I will GIVE you REST.” — Exodus 33:13-14

Bold as Moses was, he knew that having a deeper relationship with God and having God guide him is the best way to go about living his life in all situations especially the difficult ones. Maybe some of us are overwhelmed today with work or kids and am living lives led by the rush of life.

We may know about God but never truly enter his rest due to our self reliance and effort. Moses found his rest in God’s presence.

Today we have access to the same presence through Jesus who will give us an abundant life if we only but trust and rely on his love for us. Let our overwhelmed souls meet God’s overwhelming love and faithfulness so that we enter into true rest not on our terms but his!!

Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank you for giving us all that we have. Lord, today is a world of rushing, and demanding and it's so easy to get pulled into the busyness of the world. Please draw us closer and closer to you everyday so that we can know you deeper and enjoy the rest that you provide. In Jesus mighty name we pray! Amen!

HANDLING LIFE IN THE SPIRIT

7 February 2020

“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

— Ephesians 4:15

As believers, we trust in the word of God as truth and wisdom that teaches us to deal with any situation in life. However, truth today can be disputed by anyone who has a different mindset or tradition making untruths acceptable.

The lines between right/wrong are blurring and we may need to stand firm with someone who is against that. During his ministry, Jesus knew this well and was sensitive yet firm in his replies always with the intention to build someone up and he did it by praying a lot to God.

Conflicts are imminent with work, family and friends but handling it with love and truth takes it from a superficial level to a deeper lasting relationship. Lets continually pray for wisdom as it helps us in handling challenges by speaking under the guidance of the spirit of God which dwells in us. Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our loving Father, We thank you for first loving us even before we knew you and for sending Jesus to minister to us with truth and love. Today is a world of impatience and the willingness to fight poison with poison. Instead Lord, please grant us grace so that we can stand firm in your truth and speak with the love and grace of Jesus to correct or affirm our stand in all matters. In Jesus mighty name we pray! Amen!

TRUE JOY COMES FROM LIVING IN THE LOVE OF GOD

6 February 2020

“Show HOSPITALITY to one another without GRUMBLING.” — 1 Peter 4:9

Hospitality without grumbling is the quality of treating someone in a warm, friendly and generous manner without any expectation. We grumble (complain) when giving because we feel like we deserve something back and not get any. This breeds internal bitterness and resentment and ends up being damaging for us on a personal basis making us judgemental towards others.

It happens because we build our worth on the gratification and acknowledgement of others instead of understanding how much we are loved by God who makes us worthy. When filled with the love of God, giving in itself is a joyful gift because we are already full of internal joy. Now, that is a very powerful and peaceful position to be in! Praise the Lord!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, We thank you for having heard us and for alway hearing us. Today’s world is a supply and demand era where we feel like we demand to get some recognition or reward when we supply kindness or help to others. Lord, please keep us humble and know that everything we have is from you and that as believers we should be exuding the love of Jesus to everyone even those whom we may not like. We thank you for loving us. In the name of our Lord Jesus we pray! Amen!

GODS GRACE = A FREE GIFT FOR ALL WHO BELIEVES!

5 January 2020

“Let us then with CONFIDENCE draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” — Hebrews 4:16

My son saw a "buy 3 get 1" sign and said, "Papa we can get 1 free!"

I then explained that it's not exactly free as we need to buy 3 first! It then hit me: the "Work and Earn" worldly system has made it such that everything comes at a price!

Hence, receiving God’s grace as a free gift is a concept many are trying to grasp. Yes, Jesus paid the price for us by dying on the cross for our sins so that now we are right before God.

But we have to understand that this price is NOT and cannot be EARNED by us and is 100% based on the mercy and love of God for us.

Receiving this free gift in faith, we can come to God and stand fearlessly and confidently in his grace without worry or inadequacy asking for his help in times of need! Hallelujah!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank you for loving us and making us righteous before you by sending jesus as our perfect sacrifice. Because of Jesus, we now have access to you through prayer and thanksgiving and can come boldly to you Lord asking for help in all areas of our life! We thank you and pray all these in Jesus mighty name! Amen!

THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

3 February 2020

“But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast LOVE and gave him FAVOR in the sight of the keeper of the prison.” — Genesis 39:21

Joseph had just been thrown into prison by Potiphar after being falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife. He must have felt despair in his situation despite working hard and being recognised by Potiphar. Today, we may be experiencing a difficult situation due to hardship, betrayal or temptation. Tough situations will hit us out of nowhere and it happens to us at some point in life.

Truth is, trials are a test of our faith and just like Joseph who persevered looking to God was eventually blessed, so will we experience God’s KINDNESS and FAVOUR in the midst of our struggles and disappointments. It takes the Lord to make us successful and he will take us through each trial and use each circumstance for his good. Praise the Lord!

Prayer

Dear God our heavenly Father, We thank you for being our ever dependable solid foundation. In times of hardship or trial, it is indeed tempting to look to ourselves for the solution when it is in fact ever more important to cast our hope on you Lord. Increase our faith Lord so that we can persevere and keep looking to you all the more in times of trial and may you display your Glory. In Jesus mighty name we pray this! Amen!

PROTECTION AGAINST THE WORLD

1 February 2020

“Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.” — Proverbs 2:11

We do our best to protect ourselves and our families from danger. All these efforts are important but they only guard the physical aspect. What are we doing for our souls and our families souls? Schools or the media certainly do not help in teaching about soul enrichment.

The soul of our kids, spouse and ourselves is a place where human efforts cannot reach. It is only by the powerful and piercing word of God that can reach directly to our soul and transform us.

Gods wisdom and protection is key to:

  • Shield us from bad decisions, sin, physical harm (disease or danger) and spiritual harm.

  • Bring us peace, security, success, and happiness.

Let's start little by little learning the Word of God. The best way to do this apart from going to church is to start our own reading and prayer. Seeking the Lord humbly and sincerely will result in our holistic spiritual, physical and mental health.

Prayer

Dear God our Heavenly Father, we thank you for loving us in ways we may or may not understand. As we take steps to protect ourselves physically, please also grant us spiritually protection by guiding us towards your word. Lord, help us understand your word as we read it and to apply it into our lives so that our minds are renewed and hearts transformed. We pray all these in the name of our Lord Jesus the alpha and omega! Amen!
