A HOPE THAT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT
31 December 2020
“And HOPE does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
— Romans 5:5
Hope is like a star whose light can only be seen especially in darkness (stars are shining in the sky all the time but can only be seen at night when its dark).
With bad news taking main stage in today’s world (economic recession, political violence and the virus), we need hope more than ever.
The difference between a Christian’s response to situations is HOPE in a GREATER POWER to overcome the odds.
Our security comes in what we believe, not what we feel.
There will be times our faith are tested, let’s pray for God’s grace and for the Holy Spirit to move in our lives so that our faith will be continually renewed!
Praise the Lord!
Prayer
Dear God our Lord, we thank You for loving us even before we knew You.
Lord, even as the world is going darker and darker we ask that You grace be upon us so that we know that hope is in You and You only.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

BOLDNESS AND CONFIDENCE IN THE LORD
30 December 2020
“So that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.
— 1 Corinthians 1:31
Boasting means to talk with pride and self-satisfaction about our achievements, possessions, or abilities.
After all, it’s what caused lucifer to fall. Truth is, we have no reason to boast because we are all sinners, unable and weak.
True boasting in the Lord is actually boasting of His power, of what He has done for us, what He is still doing and what He has promised to do.
Thus says the LORD: ‘Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD.
Hallelujah!
Prayer
Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for sending Your son Jesus to save us so that now we walk righteous before You in Christ.
Lord, we ask that You grant us humility so that we always know and give thanks to You, our source of everything.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

LIVING THE BALANCED LIFE BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN US
29 December 2020
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us
— Ephesians 3:20
Living the fullness of life requires us first to be filled with the fullness of God.
Friends, there is a divine power available to us believers filled with the Spirit that can accomplish far more than we think or imagine.
As such, we need to constantly ask God for grace and wisdom to guide us in daily decisions no matter how trivial.
It is impossible to ask God for too much. Yet we will not know the big picture of God’s plans and will go through disappointments in prayer.
Despite that, I encourage all of us to trust that God intends to do wonderful things for His glory through our lives!
Hallelujah!
Prayer
Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for having heard us and for always hearing us.
Lord, we ask that You increase our faith so that we can lean not on our understanding but on Your wisdom and guidance!!
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

ETERNAL PROTECTION BY STANDING IN THE GRACE OF GOD
28 December 2020
“So the Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord
— Genesis 6:7-8
In the wickedness of the earth, there is one man who stood out and found favor with the Lord.
While others lived a haphazard life, Noah lived a planned life walking with God.
His life shows us that we are saved by grace through faith as he is not special (sinless) as we are all sinners.
But, God’s grace was upon Noah. If not, he would have perished with everyone in the flood.
Today, we are like Noah, Christ’s ambassadors in these last days. God’s judgment is coming, but He offers reconciliation through Christ.
How can we be more like Noah today?
All by God’s Grace!
Prayer
Dear God Our Lord, we thank You for your new covenant of grace with us through Jesus Christ!!
Lord, we ask that You open our hearts and renew our minds to Your word so that we learn to emulate Christ and to truly know that You are our almighty God.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

LIVING OUR LIVES REBORN IN CHRIST
26 December 2020
“For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.
— James 2:26
Faith without works is a dead faith because the lack of works reveals an unchanged life or a spiritually dead heart.
How we live reveals what we believe and the extent of our faith.
Importantly, works do not determine our salvation. It is the evidence of our salvation by the grace of God.
Jesus puts it this way, "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit".
It's only when our hearts have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit that our lives demonstrate the new life.
Hallelujah!
Prayer
Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for saving us through Your son, Jesus Christ.
Lord, we ask that You increase our faith so that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit so that our lives and nature replicate that of Jesus.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

LIVING IN GOD'S LOVE TEACHES US HOW TO TRULY LOVE
25 December 2020
“And because LAWLESSNESS will be INCREASED, the LOVE of many will grow COLD.
— Matthew 24:12
Can we imagine a world without the Holy Spirit? Love is the first fruit of the Spirit and without love, the other 8 fruits cannot take root.
Looking at the increasing news of racism and human/animal abuse, it is evident that the capacity for love and compassion is diminishing.
With each increasing day of disappointment, other people's or even our kindness and love can turn cold as we feel that humans are self-centered and selfish.
But, we who put our faith in God's stable and unchanging love will intensify in love and shine like lights in this dark world bringing "HONOR TO" and "GLORIFYING" God!
Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear God our Lord, we thank You for loving us even before we knew You.
Lord, please teach us this Christmas how to love others just as how you loved us.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

THE MOST IMPORTANT MINISTRY IS THAT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
24 December 2020
“But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
— John 4:14
Just as we feel thirsty after a glass of water only to find ourselves wanting more, so will we keep being unsatisfied if we keep chasing after earthly things apart from Jesus.
Is there something we are thirsting for today – recognition, money, love or possessions?
We may be putting our hope into earthly things believing they will quench our deepest desires only to end up thirsty again.
Like the woman at the well, Jesus is inviting us to receive His living water that gives us eternal refreshment and strength for our souls filling us and our lives with His overflowing love.
Have we open our hearts out to Jesus to receive all that He wants to give us?
Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear God our loving Father, we thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit that today lives in us to lead and guide us.
Lord, we ask that You give us a clear mind and heart so that we come to know You deeper and seek You more and more so that we become fully satisfied in You alone!!
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Reflection:
– Have we thought about what it means to be close to God’s presence yet far from his heart?

LETTING GOD'S WILL OVERRIDE OUR WILL
23 December 2020
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you
— Matthew 7:7
Throwing this verse around, most people will think of God as a genie granting all their wishes especially about money and material things.
This is a dangerous false gospel spreading around in our world today.
It's true that Jesus said that God will not fail to give good things to His children. It is also clear that the "good things" are good by God’s standard.
If our kid asks to eat 20 packets of chocolate (thinking it’s good), we will not give because we know it's harmful.
I encourage all of us to ask for:
1) God’s will to be done
2) Manifestation of His glory in our lives.
This way God will be the one leading, not us!
Hallelujah!
Prayer
Dear God our Lord, we thank You for having gone ahead and planned our way for us.
Lord, we ask that You give us wisdom so that we lean on Your understand and not ours to go through our lives!
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

LIVING AS A NEW CREATION
22 December 2020
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
— Romans 12:2
Our thoughts are based on what motivates us. Today's world thrives on being market, success and self-centered driven.
We then become driven by the "Standards of People" instead of the "Standard of God" which only weighs and bogs us down.
Hence, it is crucial for us believers to be equipped with "Discernment" by continually bathing in God’s Word.
Humbly opening our heart to God’s word it:
- "Renews" our mind.
- "Changes" us from inside out.
- "Guides" us on taking the next right step for us, work and family.
Importantly, It opens our eyes to the beauty of God’s will and plan for us.
Hallelujah!!
Prayer
Dear God our loving Father, we thank You for having heard us and for always hearing us.
Lord, as the world seeks only to strive and compete, we ask that You fill us with wisdom so that we live a life not of ours but of Christ in us!
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

RECOVERING FROM OUR WOUNDS IN LIFE
21 December 2020
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
— Psalms 147:3
Are we nursing a wound or am wounded today ?
We may have or am going through situations that have yet to be resolved, be it betrayal, grief, rejection or loss.
The world says that we may forgive but never forget. Jesus says that He sets us free from the hold it has in our lives right at the source – our heart.
Jesus can do that because He too was wounded in every way possible beyond our comprehension. As such, He sees and knows the pain we are going through.
He may not always answer exactly in the way we would like, but He answers according to His perfect will and timing!
Hallelujah!
Prayer
Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for being our solid dependable foundation.
Lord, as we go through this broken world, please always guide us and teach us to learn to trust in You and obtain understanding and wisdom.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

“Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.
— Matthew 22:29
God has already written everything about life that it seems foolish for us to attempt to find life ourselves.
Applying Scripture does require reading of the Bible. However, there are those who read it:
- As part of a checklist
- Think that they know best and use verses as a form of judgement.
The pharisees are one such group in the Bible, knowing everything about God’s Word but yet denied Jesus.
We are not able to apply what we do not understand.
Do we believe that our understanding is flawed and need the help of a greater level of understanding from God?
I encourage all of us to pray a short prayer before opening up God’s Word today!
Hallelujah!
Prayer
Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word which is made readily available today.
Lord, we pray that You open our hearts and minds to Your Word so that we treat it as life and spirit.

FINDING OUR TRUE WORTH IN GODS LOVE
18 December 2020
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life
— John 3:16
Selfish love is thinking about how one has to earn our love instead of being Selfless and thinking of how we can love better.
Thinking like this, we become bonded to the law instead of dwelling in God’s grace.
We think it's all about "Performance" to make others love us instead of "Acceptance" by knowing how much God loves us.
When we understand God’s love for us through His Son, Jesus, we are transformed internally and will come to know our own worth in Him, living for an eternal purpose instead of the temporal world!
Hallelujah!
Prayer
Dear God our loving Father, we thank You for loving us and sending Your son Jesus to save us.
Lord, even as we live in the temporal world, help us to look beyond to Your eternal perspective and to long for that instead!
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

UNBELIEF/DISTRACTION BLOCKS US FROM ENTERING GOD'S REST
17 December 2020
“For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not BENEFIT them, because they were not united by FAITH with those who listened
— Hebrews 4:2
A verse down teaches that this "BENEFIT" is to enter "GOD'S REST".
Have we been rejecting or casting God’s word aside due to Pride and Self Reliance?
In the midst of today’s busy and tired world, it is easy to put our security in worldly things and that's what the devil is tempting us with.
Today, we can enjoy God’s rest which is "Gracious" and "Sustaining" by believing in what the sacrifice of Jesus has achieved for us.
Let’s be very aware of this danger and seek refuge by believing with faith in the teachings of Jesus.
A profound "Peace" and deep "Calm" comes within when we trust in the promise of God’s REST and let Him do the REST!
Praise the Lord!
Prayer
Dear Lord our God, we thank You for having heard us and for always hearing us.
Father, draw us close to You and increase our faith so that we can enjoy the life You want us to have.

BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR HEAVENLY FATHER
16 December 2020
“Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.
— James 5:13
Just as our kids connect with us by speaking, so should we as children of God connect with him through "Prayer" + "Thanksgiving".
Today, we are always rushing and feeling like there are insufficient hours in a day.
Praying may not come naturally as we feel that more can be achieved during the time that we commit to prayer.
Got a victory at work, with our kids? Let’s celebrate it with God!!
Facing a tough situation? Let's come to Him and ask Him for help!!
Let's start our days with a prayer of thankfulness and taking all our requests to our God for He loves us more than we can ever understand.
Hallelujah!!
Prayer
Dear God Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for sending Jesus to save us so that now we are able to approach Your throne of grace.
Lord, we ask for Your help to declutter our lives so that we learn the importance of communicating with You daily and depend on Your sustenance.

REPENTANCE = A CHANGE OF LIFE
15 December 2020
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me
— Psalm 51:10
After committing adultery and murder, King David knew that the change of his desires and thoughts could only come by REPENTANCE.
Repentance or Metanoia in Greek means a complete change of:
– Mind
– Heart
– Direction
Metanoia transforms us into a whole new person with new personalities totally reborn in Jesus!
First, perceive that we need a change in our life. It could be our temper, self-centeredness, worldly idolatry or a judgemental mind.
The next step is to surrender our lives to God as the Bible teaches that no one has the ability to change himself and spiritual change (Metanoia) comes only from God.
Praise the Lord!
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your grace and mercy in our lives.
Lord, please transform us and teach us Your way of living so that we can be aligned with You and develop the fruit of the Spirit!
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

OUR WEAPON AGAINST DAILY TEMPTATIONS AND DISTRACTIONS
14 December 2020
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
— 1 Peter 5:8-9
Resisting temptation begins with knowing that satan is the supreme “tempter” who has been tempting mankind since Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
Sin is not just about the big issues like adultery and material wealth but also about how we are with our anger, words we use against each other and our thoughts.
Our human nature allows temptations to take root and causes us to act on them.
The Word of God has always been our best defense against satan and the better we know His Word, the easier it will be to claim victory over our daily struggles.
Hallelujah!
Prayer
Dear God Our Lord, we thank You for sending Your only son Jesus who is perfect to be sin for us so that we are now made right with You and righteous before You in Christ.
Lord, we ask that You give us strength daily to cover any temptation that we have in order for us to live a life pleasing to you and fruitful.

WORDS OF CONSOLATION BRINGS PEOPLE JOY
12 December 2020
“Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.
— Proverbs 12:25
This verse is remarkable in its simplicity.
Worry leads to anxiety and fear which if sustained leads to depression which is now on the rise especially in this millennial generation.
Good and kind words when used timely to our family and friends can minister healing grace to the burdened heart.
Let's fill our minds with the hope empowering truth of Scripture so that our mouths will be more readily used by God to bring words of healing and hope to those whose spirit is broken.
Only when we truly feel hopeful can we then bring hope to others.

GOD IS OUR LIFE SUPPORT THAT WILL NEVER DRY OUT

“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
— Lamentations 3:22-23
Everyday is new and presents itself with different challenges, tasks and situations.
The Bible teaches that God is sovereign and in control of everything especially our lives.
We were never meant to shoulder the stress of the world ourselves as doing so causes us to break down be it emotionally, physically or mentally.
As the world gets sucked into a whirlpool of results and busyness, it is time for us to "REFLECT" and "REALIGN" ourselves to God’s limitless powerful grace.
Sometimes, it is when life gets hard that we come to know His goodness and grace.

Isn't it amazing that you and I have the power to give grace to others through proper use of our words?
How are we handling conflicts with our parents, spouses, other people or kids these days ?
We affect others significantly by what we say about them and we are also affected by what others say about us.
Our tongues can be the most difficult thing to control and leave us with great regret if we use our words to HURT instead of HEAL.
Let's always ask the Holy Spirit within to help us treat people with love, kindness, and respect.

Today, some of us may be facing a situation with our work, children, marriage or health. We may feel like the odds are against us or we are at our wits end.
The thing is, Jesus knew what miracle he was about to perform and wanted to use the opportunity to teach his disciples.
Maybe Philip could have said, "I don’t know how to gather the food to feed this crowd." But, Lord you are greater than me. Please reveal your glory in my life!!

LIVING A LIFE FILLED WITH SECURITY AND PROTECTION
08 December 2020
“He who fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge.
— Proverbs 14:26
No matter what stage of life we are at, having to constantly plan for the future can be daunting and fearful.
Initially, I admit that it can be hard to put faith in the divine teachings of God as our needs are physical, yet God tells us to walk not by sight.
However, upon correcting our mindset and switching the fear of the unknown to respectfully fearing God, who is the Creator, has been my success at least.
Trusting in God by faith starts with baby steps; I cannot help but notice God’s grace in my life.
We then become secure and confident especially in today’s world of mess and confusion.
For us with kids, this confidence we display in God will stick with them and become their refuge in their darkest moments growing up.
Hallelujah!
Prayer
Dear God our heavenly Father, we thank You for loving us even before we knew You.

Mahatma Gandhi was intrigued by Jesus' teachings but was turned away at a church as he was not a high-caste Indian or a white person.
Hence, “If it weren’t for Christians, I’d be a Christian.” became one of his famous quotes.
Unselfish love to others is:
- Assuming the Best of Others.
- Wishing others well regardless.
- Focusing on commonality, not differences.
It may seem like an impossible task as we argue, mess up and fall short.
It's important for us to know that living out God’s Word requires the help of the Holy Spirit within us.

TRUE SUCCESS HAPPENS WHEN WE ARE BEING GUIDED BY GOD

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
— Isaiah 55:9
We know that dedication, commitment and sacrifice is the way to success in our lives.
Being flawed in nature, it's easy for us to take it the extreme way and to pay a price for success.
Have we thought about how our lives may be when we sacrifice some of the clutter in our life and dedicate time to God.
My humble belief is that anything we do without God's blessing is meaningless as we then take the lead instead of God’s divine wisdom taking the lead.
It’s easy to forget this but let's be encouraged and know that our Lord always has a better plan than us.

Being FEARFUL of the unknown future is a big part of our reality today.
This nature of fear makes it the greatest weapon satan uses against us, as it attacks our minds.
Fearing the future, we tend to build our confidence in tangible things like our status, career and skills.
What satan does not want to point to you is that God is the Creator of all these things and He has a plan for us which is for our good.

ARE WE COMPLAINING OR COMMUNING WITH GOD TODAY?
02 December 2020
“Do everything without grumbling or arguing
— Philippians 2:14
How are we today when we first arise from sleep or when trying to follow the ways of Lord Jesus?
It can be easy to wake up grumbling in thought/words at our busy schedules or to argue with God when we meet difficult people.
Not focusing on the goodness the Lord has shown us, we may be complaining about things that go wrong or outwardly obeying the Lord but inwardly complaining.
Faith without works is dead. But, let’s know that God also looks at our hearts more than our deeds.
"Complaining" to God only creates discontentment, judgemental conclusions and bitterness.
"Communing" with God brings our disappointment to him and lets His grace and Word steady us.

Dear God our loving Father, we thank You for sending Your son Jesus as a sacrifice so that we now walk right with You.

FINDING OUR SELF-WORTH IN JESUS
01 December 2020
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money
— Matthew 6:24
It’s easy to find our self-worth in money, accomplishments or possessions. Believing these bring us happiness, we will always be disappointed as it is an empty love.
Some would say that Satan’s greatest resource, in his effort to take our focus off God, is money.
Loving money is expensive. It can cost us our family, precious time, health and relationship with God.
Let's remember how easily money or self-worth can be our stumbling block whenever we are tempted to tie it to our sense of security.
Ultimately, what we focus our mind on will determine if there’s more of Jesus or more of us.
Amen.
Prayer
Dear God our loving Father, we thank You for having heard us and for always hearing us.
