From TVB (fiction):
Two top surgeons were contending to be the CEO of a hospital. One is a neurosurgeon (YT) and the other a cardiac surgeon (TM). One day, a major surgery was being carried out. The press was allowed to watch through camera and take notes, but not allowed to video-record the procedure.
The surgery involved removing cancer cells from the base of the patient’s heart. The surgeon was TM. YT was not involved. He sat with the press in the Conference Room of the hospital. Suddenly, YT’s expression showed a deep concern. He stood up and ran…
The next scene was inside the Operating Theatre (OT). YT entered the OT and told TM what he will do i.e. he will attend to the life-threatening situation involving the patient’s brain…
Can you imagine?
Two top surgeons PUT AWAY their personal ambition and put their whole heart and mind, skills and knowledge onto the mission of saving one patient. The life of the patient depended on how these two men work i.e. whether they are like-minded and single-hearted. I can see that all they cared about was to do their part to save the patient.
Tears welled in my eyes. You might say, “It’s just a show” but I can ‘see’ the heart of the person who wrote the script – he has presented before my eyes the power of UNITY.
Dear Father God,
We do not need moments of life and death to help us understand the importance of unity. Father, I pray that all Christians would catch the fire of unity and carry out what You have called us to do. Help us to grow in maturity so that we may know our part in the ‘rescue’ operation and step into the part that You have planned and prepared for us. May we be like-minded and single-hearted. Father, You are the CEO of our Hospital. We are Your surgeons. We offer You our hands and feet, our hearts and minds, our skills and knowledge. Anoint us to do what You want us to do. Without You, we can do nothing.
The Bible says:
“The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father” Jesus has said to His disciples. (John 14:12)
Every disciple of Jesus Christ is a member of God’s team in saving lives.
To God be the glory!
