Quiet Time With Jesus – Giving

Friday, 15 February 2019

Some years ago, I went to a stall at a market with the intention of buying 2 cans of abalone, one for my sister and one for myself. I told the stall-keeper my intention and she recommended 2 cans – a good one for me and a not-so-good one for my sister. I had felt awkward… Later, I understood why. God the Holy Spirit had changed my thinking. I decided to give the good one to my sister and the not-so-good one for myself.

I remember a story about a little boy. His dad told him to have an apple. Two apples were on a plate and the little boy chose the smaller one. His dad was surprised and asked him why he had chosen the smaller apple. The little boy said that his brother is older. Therefore, his brother should have the bigger apple. Amazing. I wonder whether kids today are taught such values. I hope they are.

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank You for loving us with an everlasting love. Thank You for giving us Your only begotten Son to die on the cross for our sins so that we may live. Thank You for giving us Your Holy Spirit to teach and guide us on the path of righteousness. We declare that we are children of God, forgiven, saved by grace through faith in Christ. We are a new creation, heir of eternal life, led by the Holy Spirit. We are the light of the world, healed by Jesus’ wounds, and are being transformed by the renewing of our mind. Truly, we are heir to the blessings of Abraham, more than a conqueror and able to do all things through Jesus’ strength.

Father God, You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider, and Jehovah Raphe, our Healer. You provide all that we need. You heal all our diseases. We are healed and made whole. We are Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which You prepared in advance for us to do.

May we open our ears and hearts to Your prompting, respond with eagerness and enthusiasm, and carry out all Your assignments with joy, peace, love and faith.

We give You thanks for giving us opportunities to love the world the way You do. May Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Amen!
