Quiet Time With Jesus – X-ray

Friday, 25 January 2019

X-rays are useful in detecting abnormalities within the BODY. It is a painless, non-invasive way to help diagnose problems such as broken bones, tumors, dental decay, and the presence of foreign bodies.

Today, I’m thinking about x-ray as a way to identify our mental and emotional, social and spiritual problems. Mental – how do we think – like Christ or like the world); Emotional – feelings that result from our thinking; Social – how do we build and maintain relationship with others; Spiritual – relating to or affecting the human spirit. The human mind is like the CPU (central processing unit). If we cannot think clearly, we will lose confidence, control, and composure.

I strongly believe that we need to pursue God and seek to understand His Word little by little, so that we can develop a mind that is like His. We cannot read the Bible without understanding. God gives us a Teacher - the Holy Spirit who lives in us - 24/7. We can ask Him questions at any time anywhere. How wonderful!

Jesus emphasized a lot on ‘LOVING HIM’ in John 14 when He told His disciples about the Holy Spirit. For example, He said: If you LOVE me, you will obey what I command (v 15). Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who LOVES me (v 21). If anyone LOVES me, he will obey my teaching (v 23a).

Jesus also said: …but the world must learn that I LOVE THE FATHER and that I DO EXACTLY WHAT MY FATHER HAS COMMANDED ME (John 14:31).

Do you love Jesus?

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Your x-ray eyes see inside us whether we like it or not. Nothing is hidden from you.

David says (in Psalm 139): O LORD, You have searched me and You know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue You know it completely, O LORD. You hem me in – behind and before; You have laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. WHERE CAN I GO FROM YOUR SPIRIT? Where can I flee from Your presence?

O God, we praise You because we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful!

Search us, Father God, and know our hearts; test us and know our anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in us, and lead us in the way everlasting.

Father, we love You! We want to obey Your commands. We want to be re-formed from the inside out to be people of God bearing Your image. Wherever we go, we pray that people’s eyes are opened to see YOU in us.

In Jesus’ wonderful name we pray.

Amen!
