A young man said, “I’m very unlucky today.”
“I damaged a door at my workplace.”
“I didn’t gauge the speed of the door opening. It was slower than I thought, so I banged into it. It cannot be closed properly now. So unlucky!”
When we meet with mishaps or accidents, we might consider it an unlucky event.
As I reflect on it, I concluded that it has nothing to do with luck. This is what I should have told the young man, “Consider it a lesson or a test whenever you meet accidents like that because you either learn something new or you fail to apply what you have learned.”
Our human mind is quick in observing results and analyzing the cause. It happens in split second speed although some complicated situations require more time.
After I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior, I began to see things differently. I am still UNLEARNING what I have learned from the world. If my automatic conclusion is NOT IN LINE with God’s thinking, the Holy Spirit will point it out to me. I will then know when I need to UN-LEARN and RE-LEARN. Sometimes, a non-Christian friend would disagree with me and even say that I’m weird.
Dear Father God,
I thank You for all the mistakes that I have made. Now I know it is how You are moulding me and making me a ‘new man’. The ‘old man’ must die because the ‘new man’ is taking over now. Everything I do, I shall do in obedience to Your Word and according to the leading of Your Holy Spirit.
Father God, I pray that You renew in me a new spirit – a humble and teachable spirit. I do not want to be gullible and ‘swallow everything fed to me’ by anybody especially things happening in the spiritual realm. I cannot look into the spiritual realm with my physical eyes but I can see what is happening through Your eyes by the power of the Holy Spirit living in me. Give me knowledge and understanding.
May I have discerning powers to discern spirits so that I will not be deceived and be misled onto the wrong path. My eyes are on You, Lord! Let my ways be Your ways because You are the way, the truth and the life.
I declare that Jesus Christ is my Lord, my Redeemer and my Restorer, my Teacher and my Guide. Yes, I pray that my every thought is captured and made obedient to Christ.
Help us Holy Spirit – enlighten us, reason with us, and show us the truth. Jesus told us that You are the Spirit of truth and You will teach us all things. We are blessed to receive the gifts of the Spirit. Give us opportunities to use the gifts that You have given us to honor You and to glorify Your name, now and forever.
