The Bible tells us that John the Baptist went round preaching and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” He was the forerunner bringing the Good News to man.
Jesus went round preaching the Word and healing the sick, saying, “Your sins are forgiven.” Jesus is the visible image of the Invisible God. When His first disciples asked Him when will be the sign of His coming and the end of the age, Jesus began by saying: Watch out that no one deceives you… (Matthew 24:4-25:46)
Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. Jesus was not deceived when the devil suggested that He turned stones into bread. Jesus was not deceived when the devil challenged Him to throw Himself down from the highest point of the temple. Jesus was not deceived when the devil offered Him all the kingdoms of the world.
Jesus could have thought, “Turning stones into bread is harmless. It doesn’t hurt anyone.” Just imagine.
Jesus could have thought, “This is an opportunity to demonstrate the power of God.” Just imagine.
Jesus could have thought, “It is easier to worship… than going to the cross.” Just imagine.
We are like sheep being tempted but we shall not be deceived. Amen!
Father God, hear our prayer: Our Father who art in heaven; Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen!
Jesus said that all things that we need will be added to us when we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. (Matthew 6:33)
Jesus also said,
In Matthew 13, Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” When the disciples asked, “Why do You speak to them (those who do not have ears to hear) in parables?” Jesus replied, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.”
Disciples of Jesus Christ must have ears to hear. In the book of Revelation, Jesus said to all the 7 churches, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (Revelation 2 & 3)
Jesus has declared,
Thanks be to God!
