During the years 1994 till 1998, I was stuck in a job that I could not handle and could not let go. In October 1998, I was retrenched. In September 1999, I started going to church. In June 2000, I was hospitalized with an unknown disease. I thought I was going to die when my weight fell below 40kg. I recovered miraculously. In August 2000, I started teaching in a childcare centre. In October 2001, I was baptized. In 2002, I was given the responsibilities of a Sunday School Superintendent in church. It was a ‘job’ I could not handle…
Was I traveling in the fast lane? I was searching for a way out but there was no road for running away.
Recently, someone sketched a picture. In the picture was a gigantic hourglass. Sand (that also looks like fire) is falling over a tiny stick man. It reminds me of Daniel’s friends in the furnace. It reminds someone of Daniel in the lion’s den. It reminds another person of a story: If the man does nothing, the sand will fall over him and suffocate him to death. But if the man keeps stepping on the sand that is falling on him, he will eventually be standing victoriously on top of the big pile of sand. I concluded that it is a picture of VICTORY.
Paul says that our labour in the Lord is not in vain. I believe God can turn futility into fruit. But we must do our part. We must work with our heart.
Are you able to connect the promise and power of Jesus’ resurrection to the work that you are doing for the Lord?
The only way to know the STRENGTH OF GOD is to take the yoke of Jesus upon us and to learn from Him. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
A song comes to mind:
Greater is the One living inside of me than he who is living in the world/Bring your doubts/Bring your fears/Bring your hurt/Bring your tears/There’ll be no condemnation here/You are holy, righteous & redeemed…
(MercyMe – Greater)
HE IS GREATER!
