Quiet Time With Jesus – Words

Friday, 21 December 2018

 Scripture Reference: 1 Kings 1:11-31

Nathan was the prophet God used to confront the sin between David and Bathsheba. He was also the one who warned Bathsheba about Adonijah’s plans to make himself king. Here we see Nathan as a true prophet of God. He could both confront sin and lovingly care for sinners.

John the Baptist could also confront sin and lovingly care for sinners. He was called by God to preach a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Let us have the courage to speak the truth in love.

Words can hurt a person in a confrontation. Words can also heal him/her when spoken in the right way at the right time. May God open our eyes to see our blind-spots through people who could speak into our lives.

My Prayer

O LORD, You are gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. You are good to all; You have compassion on all You have made. [Psalm 145:8-9]

May the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be pleasing in Your sight O LORD, our Rock and our Redeemer. [Psalm 19:14]

Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil… Let a righteous man strike me – it is a kindness; let him rebuke me – it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it. [Psalm 141:3-5]

Open our eyes to see divine opportunities. Help us to listen with our hearts. Use us to fulfil Your redemptive purposes through us.

In Jesus’ name we pray.

Amen!
