Quiet Time With Jesus – HELP

Tuesday, 18 June 2019

Honour God in everything we do

Evangelize wherever we go

Love whoever God loves

Pray without ceasing

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank You for giving me the word ‘HELP’ to share with my brothers and sisters in Christ.

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him, says John (1 John 3:1).

So, help us to live in such a way that those who know us, but don’t know You, will come to know You because they know us.

Teach us not to babble… We want to deepen our roots in Your Word. We want to hear Your words and put them into practice. The rain may come, the streams may rise, the winds may blow… yet we will not fall because we have our foundation in You (Matthew 7:24-27).

I want to mean what I say. I want to do what I pray. I want to do what I can and leave the ‘cannots’ to You. I want to obey. You are the Way. David found pleasure in Your word, I want to obey Your Word and find pleasure too.

I want to learn from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I want to learn from Moses, Joshua and Caleb. I want to learn from David, Daniel, Ruth and Esther. I want to learn from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I want to learn from Paul, Peter, James and John. I want to learn from Jesus, especially Jesus. Teach me Father God!

I want to pray for purity of heart, soundness of mind, humility and teachability, today and every day of my life.

May we see GOD’S DESIGN for His creation. May we see and understand that each one of HIS CHILDREN is His Special Design. May we appreciate and respect one another ‘cause each and every one of us is still being shaped by our Father God and He has not finished yet.

Quiet Time With Jesus – Wounds and Witness

Monday, 17 June 2019

A deep wound is the best witness. Don’t waste your pain (from my journal dated 31 Oct 2014).

Proverbs 27:6

Faithful are the wounds of a friend.

Charles Stanley

No two people are ever going to agree fully on everything. There must be room in a friendship for discussion and debate. There must be a feeling that the friendship is stronger than any disagreement that may arise. Genuine friends confront each other, however, in an attitude of love, helping each other to grow in Christ Jesus and to reach their maximum potential. No person is strong all the time. No person is correct all the time. No person is perfect all the time. And no person says just the right things all the time.

When I was a childcare teacher, I learned that there is much to learn from children. Their minds are not contaminated. They are pure and simple. They believe adults easily although some children try to be ‘smart’, say ‘clever’ things and tell you not to treat them as kids. However, if we don’t ‘treat’ them as kids, how do they want us to treat them? Do they want us to treat them as adults?

My principal pointed out to us that parents are the ones paying our salaries. Some children even tell teachers, “My parents are paying you your salary”. In other words, they are saying, “You have to ‘serve’ me.”

A good testimony would be one when God steps into the picture - to correct a mistake, heal a wound, give sight to the blind and enable the lame to walk. I thank God for allowing me to make mistakes. I learn from mistakes made. I habitually pray and ask God to correct my mistakes and make me a wiser person.

I thank God for picking me up always at the right time. I thank God for putting my broken pieces back together again. It is faith in Him that sustains me. I believe God’s hands are at work in my life and He is still working. His work in me is not finished yet.

I was hurt when I discovered that someone I trusted betrayed me - I saw that Jesus was hurt…

I was hurt when I know that someone doubts me – I saw that Jesus was hurt…

The devil uses ‘betrayal’ and ‘doubt’ to destroy relationships.

Whenever I am hurt, I go to Jesus. The psalmist wrote: “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Shakespeare wrote: “God shall be my hope, my stay, my guide and lantern to my feet.”

This is my prayer today:

Dear Father God,

Things happen every day. Help us to recognize Your hand of grace in all things that are happening. Sometimes, people get hurt; people are wounded; people die… I believe there is a reason for everything. Nothing happens without your knowledge. I cannot imagine You saying, “Oops, I didn’t see that coming...”

Truly, You are watching over everything that is happening. You are on Your throne. You are in control. Good things happen, bad things happen too. YOUR good things may not be OUR good things; OUR bad things may not be bad; We do not see the BIG PICTURE. We often conclude wrongly. We do not see the END from the beginning and we think that ‘it’s the end’.

Father God, help us to see things through your eyes and think through Your mind. Impart to us knowledge and power. Inspire us to do the things that You want us to do. Direct our thoughts. Purify our hearts. Guard our steps every day.

In Jesus’ name I pray.

Quiet Time With Jesus – Good Good Father

Sunday, 16 June 2019

Good News!

“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” says the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:18)

God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27)

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over EVERY living creature that moves on the ground… [Fast Forward] Let’s look at the world today… Let’s look at the human race… We shall not despair because there is hope. The Bible tells us that whoever belongs to Christ, he becomes a NEW person. The old life is gone; a NEW LIFE has begun!

New Creation

Be SILENT when anger stirs your heart

Don’t speak any word that throws a dart

Or cause pain to any soul

Add to your faith SELF-CONTROL

Be PATIENT when things seem to go wrong

It’s Satan trying to steal the joy from your song

Let the PEACE of God fill your mind and heart

Grace you receive, grace you impart

Be KIND and GENTLE to extend

A helping hand to foe and friend

Jesus came for those whose hate

Caused Him to die outside the gate

Be FAITHFUL, continually sow the seeds

Empowered by LOVE to do GOOD deeds

Though others may not know the cost

Your labor for the LORD is never lost

Be JOYFUL in the LORD; don’t frown

Though the world seems upside down

Neither circumstances nor disgrace

Can take away His amazing grace

Be CIRCUMSPECT in your walk

And chaste in thought and talk

Right thinking and right believing

In Him, you live and have your being

Be WATCHFUL, unceasingly pray

Be on guard each passing day

Christ is coming; He’s coming soon

It may be midnight, morning or noon

God has given us the KEYS

Christ has given us His PEACE

It is time for LOVE to take authority

To redeem all souls for eternity

A father was shocked to hear his son utter a vulgar and disgustingly abusive word. On impulse, he slapped his son. The son was shocked by his father’s sudden action. The son later understood how serious it was - we use our mouth to praise and worship God. The same mouth should not be uttering foul words, distasteful even to the ears of man.

Can you see the father’s love?

God’s love for us is like our love for our children. Our children may disobey us, disappoint us or hurt us so deeply that we find it hard to forgive. Yet, we still love them. How much more does our Heavenly Father love us? What we did, what we are doing and what we may do in the future – WILL NEVER CHANGE HOW MUCH HE LOVES US.

However, our Father does not tolerate sin. The Bible tells us that God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. God did not send His Son to condemn the world, but to SAVE THE WORLD THROUGH HIM. (John 3:16-17)

My Prayer

Dear Father God

Sorrow has led me to repentance. I pray that I have been sorrowful as You intended, that I was helped rather than hurt by the confrontation of my sin. Thank You for the GODLY sorrow that brings repentance leading to salvation.

Father God, You promised that those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy  (Psalm 126:5).

We come with weeping… As You bring us back, I pray that You will lead us beside streams of water on a level path where we will not stumble, because You are our Good Good Father.
