Someone asked, “Practice makes…?” We answered, “perfect” but no, that’s not the answer.
He said, “PRACTICE MAKES PERMANENT.”
No matter what we are doing, if we practice again and again, whatever we are practicing will become permanent (e.g. a habit). Whatever we love to do, we will do again and again. After I started talking to strangers (e.g. taxi drivers, foreigners at traffic lights, domestic helpers in the neighbourhood) about Jesus, I began to gain more confidence. I began to pray automatically (silently) whenever I open my mouth to share about God’s love. Praying became a HABIT. I have discovered that He (the Holy Spirit) is ever ready to help. Words will flow from my mouth like living water… and I know (deep in my heart), that it is the Holy Spirit speaking through me. I am just a mouth-piece for His use.
The question is:
Are you willing to be used by God - any time, any place, to bless someone with His love?
My devotional (on 20 July): When God invites you to be involved in His activity He wants to reveal Himself to you and to a watching world. Therefore, He will give you a God-sized assignment. When you are confronted with such a task, you’ll face a crisis of belief. You’ll have to decide what you really believe about the God who called you, and the way you respond to God will reveal what you believe, regardless of what you say. Following God requires faith and action. [Emphasis mine]
Without faith we cannot please God. And without action, our faith is dead (see James 2:26).
I think we can ‘test’ God [the way that pleases Him] as well as ‘test our own faith in God’. Many people think that an invitation to pray for the sick is a test of our own faith only. I think it is a way to glorify God. It is important that we respond when we sense that He is calling us to do something (e.g. speak to a stranger or pray for the sick). I have heard many testimonies of people who encountered God when they were desperate (and sometimes even suicidal). They think that they have reached the end of the road. They have no choice but to put their LAST HOPE in God (whom they have heard about). Our God is an AWESOME GOD. He is faithful. If anyone turns to Him, He will reveal Himself.
The Bible says: “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you SEEK ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART. I will be found by you,” declares the LORD (Jeremiah 29:12-13).
So, what would you like to practise today and / or everyday for the rest of your life?
