Quiet Time With Jesus – Gratitude

Wednesday, 19 June 2019

Gratitude is an attitude. It comes from the heart. It must be genuine. We cannot pretend to be grateful. We also cannot force someone to be grateful. Before I became a Christian, I didn’t understand the Good News. I told myself to be grateful that God has sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for me… but the gratitude was not real. As the years go by, and as I encounter God from time to time, His mercy and grace began to touch my heart, His pain and sorrow also began to pierce my heart. I began to FEEL His pain. Someone asked me if I’m going on a certain mission trip, I answered, “I don’t feel like going” and I didn’t explain what I meant. He said, “You don’t have to feel. Just go.” That is true in most cases but for me, I need to ‘feel’ God’s heart in every decision I make.

I was sharing some good news with friends - the more I share, the more good news surfaced - revealing to me how much God loves me and my children; His GRACE is unfathomable. We do not deserve it.

How great is the LOVE the Father has LAVISHED on us, that we should be called Children of God!

Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with ACTIONS and in TRUTH. God is greater than our hearts and He knows everything. Do not fret. Those who obey the Father’s commands LIVE IN HIM, and HE IN THEM. Awesome truth!

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have come into the world. Let us remember that the ONE who is in us is greater than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is LOVE.

This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might LIVE THROUGH HIM.

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but IF we love one another, GOD LIVES IN US and HIS LOVE is made complete in us (1 John 4:12).

John says, “We know that anyone BORN of GOD does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one CANNOT HARM HIM. We know that WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one (1 John 5:19).

We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is TRUE. And we are IN HIM who is true – in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true GOD and ETERNAL LIFE. Amen!

“Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.” - John ended his letter to us with these words - to REMIND us not to have idols in our life.

So, what are idols? Do you have any?
