Quiet Time With Jesus – Our response to God matters

Monday, 10 June 2019

Have you ever asked a question but didn’t get an answer? I mean - an answer that is straight to the point, specific and clear?

Sometimes, God answers me with a question. Sometimes, He answers with a word or a phrase that doesn't make sense to me. But, even in the midst of uncertainty and doubt, I would hold on to the word (or phrase) for a while and wait upon the Lord to tell me more about it. He NEVER fails to do so. Thanks be to God!

I want to thank God for using people to teach me. Even when I don’t trust the ‘teacher’ I still learn. That’s the beauty of our Lord. He allows us to ponder over strange teachings for a while. Step by step, He will lead us to the truth - through the LEADING of the Holy Spirit and our RESPONSE to Him.

In all situations, we need to pray and ask God for discernment so that we do not fall into deception.

If we expect God to answer our questions, how about answering Him when He calls? Or listen when He speaks? Are we sometimes like little children (who are not taught to listen) or adults who continue talking when they should be listening? Do we prefer to do things our way and ignore / dismiss His counsel?

Perspective is very important. How do we see God? Do we expect Him to give us everything we ask? What are the things we ask Him to give us? Are we like little kids who keep saying, “I want!” Are we parents who give our children everything they ask?

I would like to say, “Giving a child everything he wants is NOT LOVE. Allowing a child to do everything or anything he likes is NOT LOVE. Giving freedom without boundaries is NOT LOVE.”

God does not give us freedom without boundaries. God is LOVE. He gives us free will to choose – either our will or His will. Jesus chose God’s will. Are you willing to follow Jesus?

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

You are our Good Good Father. You love us with an everlasting love. Your love never fails.

God, we look to You. We won’t be overwhelmed. Give us vision to see things like You do. God, we look to You. You’re where our help comes from. Give us wisdom. You know just what to do…

And we will love You, Lord, our strength; We will love You, Lord, our shield; We will love You, Lord, our rock forever; All our days we will love You, God.

Hallelujah, our God reigns! Hallelujah, our God reigns! Hallelujah, our God reigns! Forever, all our days, Hallelujah!

Let us be sober-minded and watchful. Our adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8 ESV)

Father God, make us more aware of Your presence. Amen!
