Quiet Time With Jesus – One Big Family

Max Lucado: To accept God’s grace is to accept God’s offer to be ADOPTED INTO HIS FAMILY. Your identity is not in your friends, possessions, talents, tattoos, grades, or accomplishments. Nor are you defined by your family’s divorce or debt, or your dumb choices. YOU ARE GOD’S CHILD. You get to call Him “Papa.” You receive the blessings of His special love (1 John 4:9-11) and provision (Luke 11:11-13). YOU WILL INHERIT THE RICHES OF CHRIST and reign with Him forever (Romans 8:17). (Unquote, Emphasis mine)

We don’t have to be qualified to be eligible for God’s grace. No one is qualified because all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). We are justified only by God's grace as a GIFT.

When I was growing up, I was told to work hard and do well. I do notice that people who have done well (in the eyes of the world) are treated differently. When we go for a job interview, the employer would normally look at our qualifications and decide whether he / she wants to employ us. When we go to God, He doesn’t look at our qualifications (e.g. whether we have done any good deed). So, what makes us eligible for God’s grace? I have good news for you: God’s grace is available anytime, anywhere, for anybody and everybody who believes in Christ (John 3:16).

I am thankful that I belong to a BIG FAMILY – the Family of God. I am thankful that I have a FATHER in heaven when I do not have a father on earth. God is good! His love endures forever!

Romans 8:17 tells us that we are heirs of God (if we are children of God), and fellow heirs with Christ, PROVIDED WE SUFFER WITH HIM in order that we may also be glorified with Him.

Romans chapter 8 explains about life through the Spirit - no matter how good or how bad we have been, there is now no condemnation for us who are IN CHRIST.

We, who are in Christ, have our minds set on what the Spirit desires. Our mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace. Paul says that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. What we are going through now is like the pains of childbirth. We groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons and daughters, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved (Romans 8:24). But HOPE that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? Let’s wait for it patiently.

Life in the Spirit is no longer the same as life without the Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit and the Spirit intercedes for us in accordance with God’s will.

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Apostle Paul wrote: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered” (Psalm 44:22). NO, IN ALL THINGS WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS THROUGH HIM WHO LOVED US. Father God, we stand on Your Word (Romans 8:37) that we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us.

Amen!

Dear brothers and sisters-in-Christ, let us live our lives through the Spirit. In Christ, we are one. Just like God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit are One, we are One in Christ. We are the Body of Christ. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Amen!
