The first time I played an ice-breaker game that requires me to use an adjective (a word starting with the same letter as my name) to describe myself, I chose the adjective ‘young’ (meaning youthful). At another meeting, I received another word (from the Lord) – ‘yielding’. I started meditating on the new word and concluded that the Lord is telling me to yield – to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Synonyms: surrender, submit…
The word ‘yield’ also means an amount produced of an agricultural (grown) or industrial (made / manufactured) product. ‘Productivity’ is the word that came to mind. When we SUBMIT to the Holy Spirit, we will reap a good harvest.
The moral of the story is: think of an adjective that will ‘grow’ you into Christ’s likeness. [I have tears in my eyes now.] These are precious moments of intimacy with God and I pray – sincerely and earnestly pray - that my readers have encounters with the living God whenever they read what I write about Him. Our God is a personal God. He lives in your heart. He knows everything about you. He knows what makes you happy and what makes you sad. He knows what you like and what you dislike. He knows your strengths and He knows your weaknesses. We are not perfect but we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Every one of us is a beautiful masterpiece because we are created, designed and shaped to perfection by His perfect love. Hallelujah! Are you rejoicing? I am [big smile].
The Lord is saying, “You are a letter from Christ… not written with ink but with the Spirit of the living God.” (2 Corinthians 3:3)
Indeed, we are letters written by the Spirit of the living God. He implants GRACE into our souls, He writes every word… Hence, we become the living epistles of Christ.
Dear Father God,
Sprinkle clean water on us, and we will be clean; Cleanse us from all our impurities and from all our idols. Give us a new heart and put a new spirit in us; Remove from us our hearts of stone and give us a heart of flesh. Put Your Spirit in us and move us to follow Your decrees and be careful to keep Your laws. (Ezekiel 36:26)
Let love and faithfulness never leave us; bind them around our necks, write them on the tablet of our hearts. (Proverbs 3:3)
We are Your workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which You prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10)
We praise You! We thank You! We love You, Lord!
Song: Refiner’s Fire
Purify my heart / Let me be as gold and precious silver / Purify my heart / Let me be as gold, pure gold / Refiner’s fire / My heart’s one desire is to be holy / Set apart for You, Lord / I choose to be holy / Set apart for You, my Master / Ready to do Your will / Purify my heart / Cleanse me from within / And make me holy / Purify my heart / Cleanse me from my sin deep within…
