Attention was drawn to my voice this year after I lost it for a short period of time due to throat infection. A mute person was attending to me at a restaurant and I didn’t know how to gesture to her what I needed. O God, how precious is the human voice. We can speak, sing and shout. We can speak of God’s grace, sing praise and shout for joy. We can also voice our opinion, grievances, and injustice at the right time, at the right place for the right purpose. Praise the Lord!
Sometimes, my friends encourage one another to write to forum (in the newspapers) what they think about unjust policies. We can also give our feedback on important issues to respective authorities. It is important that we speak / write to the right person. I hate rumours, gossip, half-truth, hearsay, toxic information, fake news / videos… They stir up negative emotions and aggressive dialogues, causing unrest like a forest fire. Why do people do that? What’s the motive – self or society? We need to pause and ask ourselves before we get carried away…
When you are facing all kinds of trouble - who do you turn to – your closest friend or relative, lawyer or doctor, mentor or pastor…? When do you normally turn to God for help?
I once had a boss who made it clear to me, “Don’t tell me your problems. You can either solve the problems yourself, or you can come and tell me the problems AND the possible solutions. I can help you decide what to do next.” He was actually a good boss because he gave me opportunities to grow. That’s the world system. Problem solvers usually climb the corporate ladder because they can perform, excel, and deliver what they are expected to deliver. I thank God for the people around me who were able to provide the operational & / or technical solutions during challenging times of my working life. Without them, I can do nothing.
Today, I still need people around me to help me BUT the most beautiful part of this growing process is: I am turning to the RIGHT PERSON - immediately - all the time. He is my Redeemer, Restorer, Counsellor, Helper, Teacher, Mentor, Defender, Refuge, my Shelter, my Strength and my Shield. He is my Heavenly Father!
Dear Father God,
Thank You for giving me a voice. Use it for Your glory. Thank You for giving me a pair of ears. I want to hear Your Voice above all voices. Help me hear You clearly. Sharpen my hearing.
Thank You for giving us opportunities to use our voices to speak of Your goodness, sing Your praises and shout for joy. Let the world hear and know how great You are, and how long, how wide, and how deep Your love is. Hallelujah!
Way Maker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, Light in the darkness – that is Who You Are!
