Quiet Time with Jesus - Simplicity

From an old journal entry - Wednesday, 21 December 2016 (recap, reflect and rephrase)

A 6-year-old girl was lining up to go for outdoor play at Halifax Montessori Childcare Centre. She told her classmates to go in front of her saying, “It’s ok. You go first.” During snack time, she also let her peers go first. I found out that she has just learned Matthew 19:30 in Sunday School - Many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first. I was both amused and amazed by how a little child learns and literally puts to practice what she has learned.

As we grow older, we ask many questions especially the ‘why’ questions e.g. Why do you want me to do this? Why do you want me to go on this mission trip? Why this and why that. Sometimes, asking why delays our decision-making when we are undecided. Sometimes, asking why is our way of saying 'No' to an invitation. Have you ever asked God why He sent His Son into the world?

My Bible teacher says that a Christian is someone who trusts in the knowledge (knowing God) and the wisdom of God, not in his own abilities. I think if we have a mind of our own, it will destroy the SIMPLICITY of pure obedience which is the characteristic that delights God the Father. I call it 'TRUST' i.e. trusting God in all circumstances.

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

I want to keep my way pure. I want to live according to Your word. I will continually seek You with all my heart; I want to live according to Your will for me; I want to accomplish Your purposes for me and I will continually praise You.

Teach me Your Word. I am hungry! I will rejoice in following Your statutes; I will meditate on Your precepts; I will delight in Your decrees; I will not neglect Your word. Let me reflect the SIMPLICITY of PURE OBEDIENCE to You and Your Word. Amen!

Song:

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet; And a light unto my path; Thy word is a lamp unto my feet; And a light unto my path;

When I feel afraid; Think I lost my way; Still You’re here right beside me; Nothing will I fear; As long as You are near; Please be near me to the end;

I will not forget; Your love for me and yet; My heart forever is wandering; Jesus be my guide, hold me to Your side; Help me to love You to the end;

Amen!
