From the book ‘My Utmost for His Highest’ by Oswald Chambers: Have I been doubting something about Jesus – maybe an experience to which others testify, but which I have not yet experienced? The other disciples said to Thomas, “We have seen the Lord” but Thomas doubted, saying, “Unless I see… I will not believe.” Thomas needed the personal touch of Jesus. When His touches will come we never know, but when they do come they are indescribably precious. “Thomas… said to Him, ‘My Lord and my God!’” (John 20:28)
People have been telling me about gold dust appearing from nowhere. “Unless I see… I will not believe,” I thought. People get very excited when they see a little gold dust. One day, a missionary friend spotted some gold dust on both her hands during a prayer meeting. I tried very hard to see but could not because it was tiny. I said to someone as we were walking out together, “God must drop gold bars because I cannot see gold dust.” God heard what I said. One day after church in an unexpected place, I saw gold dust on my forehead covered by my hair! “Unless I see… I will not believe.” Guess what – I still didn’t believe. I looked around to see if the gold dust is glitter (for art and craft). My eyes searched. My mind searched. Finding none, I finally believed. I learned three lessons: 1) Nothing is impossible with God; 2) Intimacy with God; 3) Humility.
The Truth is: Nothing is impossible with God. He created heaven and earth out of nothing. Everything that we see is a masterpiece of our marvellous Creator. What is some tiny gold dust to Him?
Our relationship with God is a personal and intimate one, not for public display. My experience with gold dust occurred at an unexpected place (in the changing room of Zara). It was not a public place where I would have exclaimed, “Look! Gold dust!” “No showing off” God impressed on my heart. It is now an experience to which I can testify. Thanks be to God! And I must remain humble before Him. Not only that, I must remain humble before my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Oswald Chambers: Do I have a personal history with Jesus Christ? The one true sign of discipleship is intimate oneness with Him - knowledge of Jesus that nothing can shake.
Opening my Bible, I was amazed to see these three words “Warning Against Unbelief” (Hebrews 3)
So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the desert, where your fathers tested and tried me and for forty years saw what I did. That is why I was angry with that generation, and I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known My ways.’ So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter My rest.’”
Unbelief is not just about gold dust and / or other miracles. God is not a magician. God is not a genie who gives us what we ask. God is God. Unbelief is: Not believing that God exists.
Flipping the pages of my Bible, my eyes fell upon these words ‘Warning Against Refusing God’ (Hebrews 12).
See to it that you do not refuse Him who speaks… At that time His voice shook the earth, but now He has promised, “Once more I will SHAKE not only the earth but also the heavens.” The words ‘once again’ indicate the removing of what can be shaken – that is, created things – so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us BE THANKFUL and so WORSHIP GOD acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ‘God is a consuming fire.’ (Deuteronomy 4:24)

Dear Father God,
I pray and ask for a teachable spirit so that I may repent of all my evil ways. Search me Father God and know my heart; Test me and know my anxious thoughts. If there is any offensive way in me, please lead me back in the way everlasting. Thank You.
In Jesus’ wonderful name I pray.
