Quiet Time With Jesus – Perfect Submission

Friday, 10 August 2018

God has given us eyes to see, ears to hear, a mind to think, hands to work and feet to walk. We are made perfect in God’s eyes.

Excerpt from “My Utmost For His Highest” by Oswald Chambers:

When the Son of God prays, He is mindful and consciously aware of ONLY His Father. God always hears the prayers of His Son, and IF the Son of God has been formed in me (see Galatians 4:19) the Father will always hear my prayers. But I must see that the Son of God is exhibited in my human flesh. “… your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit…” (1 Corinthians 6:19)

Is the Son of God being given the opportunity to work in me? [Not all the time. I often use common sense and past experiences to guide me. I don’t hear God all the time. I don’t submit/surrender/obey Him all the time.]

When I come into contact with the everyday occurrences of life as an ordinary human being, is the prayer of God’s eternal Son to His Father being prayed in me? [O Yes, I would love that. I’m still learning. My frequent prayer: Dear Father God, give me a teachable spirit so that I can pray like Jesus.]

Is the Lord Jesus Christ being abundantly satisfied by my life? Am I exhibiting a walk of spiritual pride before Him? [I know that I don’t know everything, not even many things. When I hear fellow Christians share about what they know and / or what they can do, I cringe.]

Jesus, the Son of God always recognizes and identifies with the Father. Can we do that? [Surely we can but it takes time and effort to seek God first, know Him and walk with Him.]

Oswald Chambers: We must make sure that our human flesh is kept in perfect submission to Him, allowing Him to work through it moment by moment.

Are we living at such a level of human dependence upon Jesus Christ that His life is being exhibited moment by moment in us?

Song: Have Your Way

This yearning deep within me; Reaches out to You; Your oil of joy for mourning; Soaks me, makes me new; And I will go to Your secret place; Bow my knees to Your glorious throne; Have Your way in my heart, O Lord; Have Your way; I need You, Holy Spirit; Fire to my soul; Consume my total being; Jesus, take control.

From now on, let this song be our wholehearted prayer.
