Quiet Time With Jesus - Godliness

Friday, 18 May 2018

In the early morning, I can hear birds singing in the trees;

In the garden walking among flowers, I can see the bees;

As I breathe in the fresh morning air, I can feel the breeze;

Amazed by the different textures, I can touch the leaves…

I remember reading about a girl listing these (hearing, seeing, feeling, touching…) as part of the wonders of the world.

Truly, God has given us everything we need to live on this beautiful planet. Someone said, “Contentment is the key to health and happiness.”

Reflecting on the word ‘contentment’ God’s words came to mind…

You shall not covet your neighbour’s house. You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
— Exodus 20:17

Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 19:19)

Paul reminded the Romans (and all Christians) that God’s commandments are summed up in one rule: Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Romans 13:9; Leviticus 19:18;)

In his letter to Timothy, Paul wrote:

If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an UNHEALTHY interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain.
— 1 Timothy 6:3-6

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank you for warning us about godlessness in the last days. We are indeed living in the last days. Your Word says that there will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

Your Word also says that everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. We are not afraid. Amen.

Today, many people are not putting up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their ITCHING EARS want to hear. (2 Timothy 4:3)

Therefore, Father God, we pray and ask for ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. We pray for discernment of the Truth. We pray for wisdom from above and strength of the Lord. We thank You that You have given us everything we need to live on this beautiful planet. We thank You that You are watching and giving us everything we need to continue living according to Your Will and Purpose. Amen!
