Quiet Time with Jesus – God Hears

Thursday, 26 April 2018

I started attending church at the age of 46 and was baptized at the age of 48 (better late than never). Nevertheless, I started reading the Bible (seriously) around the age of 30. I needed help. I found my Help in the Bible. Thanks be to God.

Someone suggested the word ‘predestined’… Why did I not go to church in my 30s? I was too busy with work and family. I fully understand what young parents face today and I admire the ones who are willing to serve in church on top of their busy schedules (and inevitable problems of life).

If you will remain true to God, God will lead you directly through every barrier and right into the inner chamber of the knowledge of Himself.
— Oswald Chambers

When we do not see someone attending church or serving in church, we must not assume that he or she is not close to God. If we care enough, we pray. Many believers are still trapped in traditional beliefs that misrepresent God.

If the devil can hinder us from taking the supreme climb and getting rid of our wrong traditional beliefs about God, he will do so. But if we will stay true to God, God will take us through an ordeal that will serve to bring us into a better knowledge of Himself (Oswald Chambers).

When I hear God telling me to do something or say something, I think first. How do I think? It’s pretty quick – 1st check: biblical or not; 2nd check: evil or not; If it is a word out of the Bible, I need not even think. It is only when I have doubts that I need to check (mentally and spiritually). Sometimes, I miss it. If I don’t speak, someone (to whom God gives the same word) would. Sometimes, if I don’t speak, God gives me a second chance to do so. I operate best when I am led by the Spirit i.e. I ‘let go’ of myself. Thanks be to God! He knows my weaknesses but He still uses me. As I allow myself to be used by Him, I learn and grow. God is good.

The great lesson to be learned from Abraham’s faith in God is that he was prepared to do anything for God. I had always thought: “What if…” God desires our faith to be child-like but He doesn’t want us to be blind. Our eyes must be open. He doesn’t want us to be complacent or gullible or become victims of deception. God gives us a brain to think. What we need is the mind of Christ to think the way Jesus does, to know the will of God at all times, to hear the Father’s voice and no other, and to trust Him and obey His commands.

A person’s character determines how he interprets God’s will.

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

You are amazing! You are God! We are Your sheep – we LISTEN to Your voice; You know us and we FOLLOW You. You give us ETERNAL LIFE, and we shall never perish; NO ONE CAN SNATCH US OUT OF YOUR HAND. Amen!

Father God, whenever we read Your Word, illuminate it so that we SEE what You want us to see. Holy Spirit, teach us. You are our Counselor. Help us break through all traditional beliefs. Give us clarity of mind (which is the mind of Christ) and courage to obey Your commands in all circumstances. Remind us to put on the full Armour of God. Even a mere soldier has to take good care of his army boots, cleaning and polishing them until they shine. Likewise, a soldier in God’s Army must take good care of every part of the Armour. Do not let us neglect any part of it because every part of the Armour is important. Teach us how to attack the enemy. Teach us how to use the Sword of the Spirit – the way our Lord Jesus Christ uses it. Give us understanding and knowledge of the TRUTH. Jesus is the Way and the Truth and the Life. Hallelujah! Amen!

This is the confidence we have when we approach You:

That if we ASK anything according to Your Will, You HEAR us. And if we know that You hear us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we ask of You. (1 John 5:14-15)

Amen!
