Quiet Time with Jesus – Heart Of A Christian

Tuesday, 10 April 2018

The word ‘kiasu’ means ‘afraid of losing’ (Singaporean DNA). Maybe it is the result of many generations of hard work striving to do better and to become the best in everything we do.

Aiming to be the best is not a bad thing. It is an inspiration for a person to work harder to achieve better results in whatever area that person is involved in.

Not everyone is ‘wired’ the same way. Individuals have different characteristics, gifts and strengths. When a child does not achieve good academic results, it is best to discover his area of interest (and aptitude) and encourage him / her to develop it to his / her highest potential.

Why do we aim to achieve the best results? Are we aiming to receive the best reward (return)? How are we growing the desires in our hearts?

I continue to DREAM and pray about a revival of holiness in our day that moves forth in mission and creates authentic community in which each person can be unleashed through the empowerment of the Spirit to fulfil God’s creational intentions.

I DESIRED as many as could to join together in fasting and prayer, that God would restore the spirit of love and of a sound mind to the poor deluded rebels in America.

I VALUE all things only by the price they shall gain in eternity.
— John Wesley (1703 - 1791)
Our GREATEST FEAR should not be of failure, but of succeeding at something that doesn’t really matter.
— Dwight Lyman Moody
We are not cisterns made for hoarding, we are channels made for sharing.
— Billy Graham

The above are quotes of some well-known Christians. Can you see their hearts?

I can hear God's voice: “See with your heart. Give with your heart.”

I have discovered that wisdom in the world is sometimes foolishness in the kingdom. God seems to lead me in the opposite direction. I had a vision once: I was walking in one direction. And walking towards me and past me were multitudes of people heading in the opposite direction. I wanted to tell them that they are going the wrong way but I couldn’t. It was just a vision but the message is loud and clear.

Many years ago, I heard a fund-raiser repeatedly talk about having raised millions of dollars and repeatedly complain about not receiving favour. I was confused. I asked God, “Why are we not thinking of how much more we can give and not how much we have given?”

The Bible says that we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. GOD WORKS so that we are carved for GOOD WORKS.

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

I pray for all Christians (including myself) to continue developing and demonstrating a heart of giving especially to the poor and needy at all times.

Someone says that we can never out-give God. That is so true. God GAVE His One and Only Begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus came to SAVE us – in Greek ‘save’ is ‘sozo’ – ‘sozo’ also means preserve, heal and make whole. Jesus has come to preserve, heal and make us whole. Hallelujah! Thank You Lord!
