Quiet Time with Jesus – Difficult People

Wednesday, 7 March 2018

It is good to REFLECT on past difficult circumstances from time to time. The purpose is to discover a better way to overcome in the future. Sometimes, the Holy Spirit shines a beam of light onto something that we have never noticed.

Have you worked with ‘difficult’ people?

Why do we call other people ‘difficult’ – this is something that we should ponder about – we must be honest.

As I ponder, I realized that a co-worker IS WHAT I AM NOT. This is the revelation that I need and I want to thank God and praise Him today.

For nine years, my boss and I had worked very well together in the bank. I was micro and she was macro. I looked into the nitty-gritty details. She looked at the big picture. At that time, I did not see her contribution to the ‘work’ and I took pride that I was the one who did all the work. Today, I see a DIFFERENT picture and I thank God for giving me a wonderful boss. Without her, I would not have gone up the corporate ladder. Without God, I would not have overcome all the pain…

One day, I advised my daughter not to work out all the details for her trainee teacher. My daughter is a good planner and a perfectionist too. I told her that I have gained much from my work experience because my boss was lazy. She had allowed me to run the department single-handedly. I had full control. That had become my strongest weakness too! When I lost control, I lost all confidence… That is another story. Right now, I just want to thank God for giving me the experience. At that time, I didn’t see the full picture but now I do.

Thank You Father God for opening my eyes to see the full picture. You are always behind the scene. You are like the watchful father standing nearby to rescue his children from danger, to stop his children from hurting themselves, to help them stand up when they fall, and most importantly, to protect them from harm at all times. Indeed, You are our Good Good Father - our Wonderful and Powerful Father – You are able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine! Father, we love You! Teach us to see the whole picture of our difficult circumstances. Help us to see You in the picture. Help us to identify the real problem and learn the real solution. If we can see the principles behind it, we will truly learn. Thank You Father!

As I remember my boss now, I realized that she is what I’m not. What I could not do, she could. We are not made to work alone and as I look back, I also realized that I was / am being made perfect through it all. We are all work-in-progress in God's hands.

Excerpt from Isaiah 43

But now, this is what the LORD says – He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour… Since you are precious and honoured in my sight, and because I love you… Do not be afraid, for I am with you”

We can stand on His Word because our God is a God who stands on His Word. What He has promised, He will do. We can trust Him and we can let go of all our anxieties. We can rest in His everlasting arms of protection. Our Good Good Father is always near. He does not sleep nor slumber. He is watching us right now and will leap into action if and when we face danger. Hallelujah! Thanks be to God! Amen!
