Quiet Time with Jesus – Jesus Is Lord

Friday, 2 March 2018

During a family reunion, my cousin commented that all religions are the same. I said, “It’s not the same!” My mind started to list the differences but I could not say more because my sister had told me not to share the Gospel. Since then, I have been making a mental list. It is a very long list.

Someone said, “Sharing Christ with the world means being deliberate and prepared.” Yes, I agree and I want to be deliberate and prepared. I want to let people know that my God is a personal God and He is my closest friend. He is not found in temples made by human hands. My God lives in me.

The Bible says: In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning (John 1:1-2). The Bible also says: To all who receive Him [Christ], to those who believe in His name, He gives the right to become children of God – not children born of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but BORN OF GOD (John 1:12-13).

Therefore, I AM A CHILD OF GOD. It is by the grace of God that Christians have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6). Christ Jesus is our Great High Priest. He conquered death and is risen. He lives forever. His permanent priesthood enables Him to save completely those who come to God through Him because He always lives to intercede for us (Hebrews 7:24-25). Hallelujah!

Through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to do the things that Jesus did when He walked on our planet earth. In the scriptures we can meet Jesus. He is the Living Word of God. One remarkable verse in scripture is Matthew 5:44 - Jesus said, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" and another is Romans 12:2 - Paul said,

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will.
— Romans 12:2

Some people may think that Christians wear the cross to bring good luck or protection. For me, the cross is a reminder of what Christ has done and Who He Is. He is my Lord. The Word says,

If anyone would come after me, HE MUST DENY HIMSELF and take up his cross daily and follow me
— Luke 9:23

Hudson Taylor said, "Christ is either LORD OF ALL, or He is not Lord at all" - my prayer: Yes Lord, help me to remember that. Amen!
