Quiet Time with Jesus – Prayer

Monday, 26 February 2018

Prayer is not an act of language. Prayer is a posture.

Where do you position yourself when you pray?

I could be at the foot of the cross where I remember what Jesus did and why He did it. I could be sitting at the feet of Jesus where I listen to Him attentively. I could also be kneeling before the Throne of Grace (especially when my emotions are overwhelming, my mind is confused, or my heart is broken and I’m desperately in need of help). I know that God is holy. I know Him through the Word and through the Spirit. I have encountered His presence and power through real life experiences. He is real. He is God. God is love and He loves me. He cares and He counsels me. He convicts and He corrects me; He sees my heart and He forgives me. He gives me life and I am refreshed, renewed and revitalized.

Prayer is a habit of attention and submission. My attention is not on the things that I’m praying for. My intention is to hear Him.

Let us hear God and respond.

Our response to God is very important. We may have to align and realign - again and again - to be in line with His Will. I believe prayer is a realignment of everything - our thoughts, attitude and behaviour.

LET US YIELD to His gentle hands of reformation. Let us become what He wants us to become – meek as a lamb, bold as a lion.

LET US ALLOW God to change our way of thinking. Truth hurts. Truth also heals. The truth that He reveals may break our heart but we must want to know the truth. The truth is the anchor of our life in Christ.

God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble.

LET US ASK God for grace so that we can love people even when we think that they don’t deserve it.

LET EVERY PRAYER draw us closer to Him. He is the Only One who can refresh, renew and revitalize the Church.

LET US BE of one heart and one mind in Christ. Amen!
