Quiet Time with Jesus – Christ in us

Friday, 7 December 2018

The end of the year is coming and we look forward to a new year of hope, peace and joy. Do we really see hope, peace and joy in the new year? We hear terrible news of hostility, hatred and humiliation only too often these days. Self-control is almost unheard of. I opened my devotional and saw the word “REPENTANCE” in caps.

Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation...
— 2 Corinthians 7:10

Oswald Chambers: Conviction of sin is one of the most uncommon things that ever happens to a person. It is the beginning of an understanding of God… The foundation of Christianity is repentance.

Apostle Paul: He (Jesus) is not weak in dealing with you, but is powerful among you. For to be sure, He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by God’s power. (2 Corinthians 13:3-4)

I believe Paul is telling followers of Christ to do likewise – weak in Christ, yet by God’s power live with Christ to serve others.

Paul’s final greetings to the Corinthians: Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the GOD of LOVE and PEACE will be with you.

Jesus’ prayer for all believers:

Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I MYSELF MAY BE IN THEM. (John 17:24-26, emphasis mine)

My Prayer

Dear Father God

I pray that Jesus’ prayer work miraculously in us so that our minds are transformed. I pray that we may consistently extend Your Love to others through our words and deeds. May everyone encounter Christ as we reach out in truth and in love.

From another devotional written by Beth Moore:

1.     Are you actively building a history with God?

2.     Can you readily say that the two of you have done lots of living together since your salvation?

3.     Have you allowed Him to reveal Himself to you in the many experiences of life?

May we truthfully answer these questions.
