Quiet Time With Jesus – Pursuit

Wednesday, 26 December 2018

To pursue someone or something is to chase, follow, stalk, track, trail, shadow…

“How did you come to know Christ?” someone asked me recently and I answered her, “I was looking for God.”

In 1999, I was recuperating from the effects of retrenchment... helpless and hopeless. Every road seemed to lead to a dead end. I was lost until I stepped into Cairnhill Methodist Church where I found my direction through Psalm 121. Thereafter, everything fell into place like a jigsaw puzzle. I accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour in 2001 and began my journey with Him as a Sunday school teacher. By God's grace, I became the Sunday school superintendent. However when I was serving in that position, I felt inadequate, unqualified and inexperienced. I was so weak [spiritually] that I began to seek God desperately.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you.”
— Jeremiah 29:13-14a

I am convinced that my help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He watches over me all the time. He protects me from all harm.

My Prayer

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come. You are worthy, our LORD and GOD, to receive glory and honour and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being.

Dear Heavenly Father,

One thing I ask of You is: that I may dwell in Your House all the days of my life, to gaze upon Your beauty and to seek You in Your Temple. For in the day of trouble, You have kept me safe in Your dwelling. You have hidden me in the shelter of Your tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Thank You LORD!
