Saturday, 22 December 2018

Scripture Reference: John 10:1-18

According to a dictionary, ‘passion’ is a strong and barely controllable emotion. When we say someone is very passionate, what do we mean? A passionate person is one who has, shows, or is caused by strong feelings or beliefs. Some synonyms: intense, fervent, zealous, fiery, eager, energetic.

‘The Passion of the Christ’ is a film telling us about the short final period in the life of Jesus Christ. It covers his entrance visit to Jerusalem, leading to His crucifixion on Mount Calvary, defining the climactic event central to Christian doctrine of salvation history. The word ‘passion’ comes from the Latin word for suffering.

The Good Shepherd is passionate about guarding His sheep, ensuring their safety. Jesus declares that He is the good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep (John 10:11,15,17 & 18).

Jesus said, “

I am the good shepherd; I KNOW MY SHEEP and MY SHEEP KNOW ME – JUST AS THE FATHER KNOWS ME and I KNOW THE FATHER – and I lay down my life for the sheep
— John 10:14-15

Can you see how personal and intimate the relationship is?

Do you desire such a relationship with Someone who has laid down His life for you?
