In June 2000, I was hospitalised for 5 days, suffering from an unknown disease. One night, I had a dream - I was barbecuing satay... And the BBQ pit was a coffin! According to the nurse, the doctor had given me the strongest antibiotic and that had caused hallucination.
Suddenly, I could interpret the dream: When we want to barbecue satay, we would start a fire. When the fire is very big, we have to WAIT. We should not barbecue our satay (meat) in the fire because it will be burnt! We must wait until the charcoal is glowing in a small flame. In other words, we should WAIT for the right timing to put the satay over the flame. We should WATCH and know when to remove the satay. We need to add oil from time to time and fan the flame...
As I wonder what the coffin means, the word ‘death’ came to mind. It means that we must die to self (flesh). What a wonderful dream!
In Matthew 16:24-25, Jesus says, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.” And in Luke 14:33, He says, “Any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.”
And in Luke 14:33, He says, “Any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.”
Amazed by an awesome God, I wrote the word ‘SATAY’ in my journal:
S – Surrender (all)
A – Abide (in Christ)
T – Trust (God)
A – Abound (in life)
Y – Yield (to the Spirit of God)
I am glad that my dream is making sense now. May God continue to give us dreams and visions, wisdom and guidance to live in His Light.
