Quiet Time with Jesus – Glow in His Glory

Wednesday, 19 July 2017

The face of a little child always brightens my day. Joy always fills my heart. Every baby is a miraculous and beautiful creation of God!

Francis Frangipane: Infants and little children, because their spirits are yet pure and undefiled and because they are so close to the actual presence of God, emanate this light [glow of true holiness]… Their light is visible because their hearts are transparent and truthful.

As we grow older, layers and layers of deception cover our hearts. We are no longer transparent and truthful. God has to peel off these layers to make us transparent again.

When the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Guess what was in the depth of their hearts?

I am reminded of what John the Baptist said, “He (Jesus) must become greater; I must become less.” May we have the spirit of John the Baptist.

In reply to their question, Jesus called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said:

I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
— Matthew 18: 1-4

Jesus also said to his disciples:

Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. So watch yourselves.
— Luke 17: 1-3a

Whether we are at home, at work, on the streets or in church, we ought to watch ourselves. Let the true light shine in us and through us. We must not become proud that we have the light. Let us guard against all self-righteous thoughts. Eve was deceived. The Bible says that Eve saw that the fruit of the tree was GOOD for food and pleasing to the eye, and also DESIRABLE for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then their eyes were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Adam and Eve tried to cover up their nakedness. I was told: God’s glory was covering them before they ate the fruit.

I would like to choose God’s covering over me and not my own. I believe the Blood of the Lamb covers me; Christ’s righteousness covers me; And the Holy Spirit is working in me. Hallelujah! Amen!

Jesus said,

I counsel you to buy… white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me.
— Revelation 3: 18-20

My Prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank You for the Bible, Your Word written for us to read and reflect, through which You give revelation after revelation of Yourself and Your heart. Thank You LORD!

I pray for all disciples of Jesus Christ (myself included) to seek Your face and know Your heart. O Pure and Holy God, peel off the layers of deception that cover the eyes of our heart! We want to see You! We want to become transparent and true like little children so that the world may see the Glow of Your Glory.

We desire Your Presence in our lives. We submit to Your chastisement. We resist the devil. Help us discern his schemes of deception. We will watch ourselves. We will carry each other’s burdens. Amen.

Apostle Paul said: If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load (Galatians 6:1b-5). May we hear and obey.

We will clothe ourselves with humility toward one another because our God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Yes! He will restore us and make us strong, firm and steadfast. To God be the power for ever and ever! Amen!
